Parque Olímpico, Paraguay
The Parque Olímpico ('Olympic Park') is a sports complex in Luque, Paraguay, near the country's capital, Asunción. It is owned by the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, and was inaugurated on June 1, 2017. The construction had an investment of more than 59,000 million guaraníes. It has an Olympic Training Center, a synthetic athletics track, a multipurpose sports center, a tennis complex, volleyball and beach soccer courts, a shooting range, among others. The park hosted the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. In 2022 it was one of the main venues for the 2022 South American Games. Luque
Luque () is a city in Central Department of Paraguay, part of the Gran Asunción metropolitan area. Both 1635 and 1750 have been recorded as dates of its founding. It was temporarily the capital of Paraguay in 1868 during the Paraguayan War before relocation to San Estanislao. The city is home to Paraguay's main international airport, Silvio Pettirossi International Airport and the Ñu Guasú Park, which is where the Paraguayan Olympic Committee is also located. The continental governing body of association football in South America, CONMEBOL, has its headquarters approximately 3 minutes from the airport, which hosts the South American Football Museum. The 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup took place in Luque. The Paraguayan Olympic Committee or COP () is the National Olympic Committee representing Paraguayan athletes in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Pan American Games. It was created and recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1970. It is based in Luque, Paraguay, in the Greater Asuncion area. Asunción
Asunción (, ) is the capital and the largest city of Paraguay. The city stands on the eastern bank of the Paraguay River, almost at the confluence of this river with the Pilcomayo River. The Paraguay River and the Bay of Asunción in the northwest separate the city from the Occidental Region of Paraguay and from Argentina in the south part of the city. The rest of the city is surrounded by the Central Department. Asunción is one of the oldest cities in South America and the List of oldest continuously inhabited cities#South America, longest continually inhabited area in the Río de la Plata Basin; for this reason it is known as "the Mother of Cities". Paraguayan Guaraní
The guaraní (, plural: ''guaraníes''; currency sign, sign: ₲; ISO 4217, code: PYG) is the national currency unit of Paraguay. The guaraní is divided into 100 céntimos but, because of inflation, céntimos coins are no longer in use. The currency sign is ; if unavailable, "Gs." is used. History The law creating the guaraní was passed on 5 October 1943, and replaced the Paraguayan peso, peso fuerte at a rate of ₲1 = 100 pesos fuertes. Guaraníes were first issued in 1944. Between 1960 and 1985, the guaraní was pegged to the United States dollar at ₲126 = US$1. Revaluation plans The guaraní is currently one of the least valued currency units in the Americas, US$1 being equivalent as of June, 2024, to ₲7,520. In 2011, plans were released under which the Paraguayan guaraní would be revalued as the ''Nuevo guaraní'' ("New guaraní") (PYN) at the rate of 1,000:1.
