Parq Vancouver is a mixed-use development located adjacent to BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. The three towers house four-star hotels JW Marriott, The Douglas (an Autograph Collection hotel), a two-floor casino, eight restaurants and lounges which seat 846, a open space on level 6 and of event space. The two-floor casino at Parq Vancouver has 600 slot machines and 75 gaming tables, the same as at the former Edgewater Casino, which was located across the street at the Plaza of Nations The Plaza of Nations was an entertainment complex located on the northeast shore of False Creek in Vancouver, British Columbia. JW Marriott is a luxury hotel brand owned by Marriott International. History The JW Marriott brand was established in 1984, with the opening of the first hotel in Washington, D.C. The properties are independently owned and operated under the Autograph Collection name. History To grow in the post-2008 economic downturn, Marriott, known for its rigid uniformity, was willing to relax this stipulation to draw independent unique hotels to its network of franchised properties. The Edgewater Casino is a former casino that was located at 760 Pacific Blvd South Vancouver, British Columbia. It was in operation from 2005 to 2017. History The Edgwater Casino opened in February 2005. In 2006, the casino was acquired by Paragon Gaming who would manage it for more than ten years. In September 2006, the company purchased the bankrupt casino for $43 million. The casino was closed on September 29, 2017. This was the same day that across the street, the Parq Vancouver opened its doors. Statistics In 2013, it generated $6.6 million for the city. In 2014 it was $7.2 million.
