Zaildar was the title of the grand jagirdars (landlords) of the area, who were in charge of a Zail which was an administrative unit of group of villages during the British Indian Empire. Bhawanigarh
Bhawanigarh, earlier known as Dhode, is a town and a municipal council (Class-3) in the Sangrur district in the state of Punjab, India. It is also the headquarters of Bhawanigarh tehsil, which was formed in December 2016. The town is also called Dhode, after the clan of its original founders. The town lies 19 kilometres east of Sangrur on the Patiala-Sangrur road whereas Patiala is 39 kilometres east of Bhawanigarh. The literacy rate is higher than other places of Sangrur. Surinder Pal Singh Sibia is an Indian politician, and a member of Indian National Congress. He served as MLA of Sangrur from 2007 to 2012. He contested from Sangrur in 1997, 2007, and 2012, while twice (2002 and 2017) from Barnala. Sibia has also served as vice-president of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Vijay Inder Singla (born 1 December 1971) is an Indian politician. He is former member of Punjab Legislative Assembly. He is a former minister in the current council of ministers of Punjab government and heads the Public Works Department and Administrative Reforms. He was a Congress Member of Parliament from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab from 2009 to 2014. In 2014, he lost Lok Sabha election from Sangrur to Bhagwant Mann with a margin of 3,51,827 votes. In 2017, he won Sangrur constituency with margin of 30000 votes.
