Cody is a city in Northwest Wyoming and the seat of government of Park County, Wyoming, United States. It is named after Colonel William Frederick " Buffalo Bill" Cody for his part in the founding of Cody in 1896. The population was 10,066 at the 2020 census. Cody is served by Yellowstone Regional Airport. Geography Cody is located at (44.523244, −109.057109). Park County is a county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 29,624. The county seat is Cody. Park County is a major tourism destination. The county has over 53 percent of Yellowstone National Park's land area. Wapiti, Wyoming
Wapiti is an unincorporated community in Park County, Wyoming, United States. It is situated along the North Fork of the Shoshone River in Shoshone National Forest, between Cody and the eastern entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The location is named after the Cree Indian word for elk. The name wapiti is also used exclusively for the descendants of elk introduced to New Zealand by President Roosevelt in 1905. It is the location of the Wapiti Ranger Station, a U.S. National Historic Landmark. It has a post office with the ZIP code 82450.
