Park Avenue Logger
''Park Avenue Logger'' is a 1937 American lumberjack Western film directed by David Howard. The film is also known as ''Millionaire Playboy'' in the United Kingdom and ''Tall Timber'' (American reissue title). It is based on the short story of the same name by Bruce Hutchison that appeared in the 30 November 1935 issue of the Saturday Evening Post. Plot Mike Curran believes his son Grant is an effete aesthete and decides to toughen him up by sending him under a false name to work at one of Mike's logging camps. Unknown to the elder Curren, his son spends his evenings as a masked wrestler; Grant believes his family would be embarrassed if they knew the truth. Also unknown to Mike Curran is the fact that his friend and logging camp boss Ben Morton and his stooge Paul Sangar are embezzling money from the Curren owned camp and are trying to force Peggy O'Shea's rival logging camp out of business by deadly acts of sabotage. David Howard (October 6, 1896 – December 21, 1941) was an American film director. He directed 46 films between 1930 and 1941. He was born as David Paget Davis III in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and died in Los Angeles, California. Ward Bond
Wardell Edwin Bond (April 9, 1903 – November 5, 1960) was an American film character actor who appeared in more than 200 films and starred in the NBC television series ''Wagon Train'' from 1957 to 1960. Among his best-remembered roles are Bert the cop in Frank Capra's '' It's a Wonderful Life'' (1946) and Captain Clayton in John Ford's '' The Searchers'' (1956). Early life Bond was born in Benkelman in Dundy County, Nebraska. The Bond family, John W., Mabel L., and sister Bernice, lived in Benkelman until 1919 when they moved to Denver, Colorado, where Ward graduated from East High School. Bond attended the Colorado School of Mines and then went to the University of Southern California and played football on the same team as future USC coach Jess Hill. Brother Jonathan
Brother Jonathan is the personification of New England. He was also used as an emblem of the U.S. in general, and can be an allegory of capitalism. His too-short pants, too-tight waistcoat and old-fashioned style reflect his taste for inexpensive, second-hand products and efficient use of means. Brother Jonathan soon became a stock fictional character, developed as a good-natured parody of all New England during the early American Republic. Robert Emmett O'Connor (March 18, 1885 – September 4, 1962) was an Irish-American actor. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1919 and 1950. George Rosener
George Michael Rosener (May 26, 1884 – March 29, 1945) was an American film actor and writer. He also wrote and acted in the Frank Buck serial ''Jungle Menace''. Career Rosener began his acting career at age 19 as a circus clown, followed by stints in tent and medicine shows, vaudeville, and stock companies. He was a playwright whose 1927 play ''Speakeasy'' (written with Edward Knoblock) was adapted for film in 1929. Rosener acted in or directed more than 200 plays, including ''My Maryland''. He was on the news staff of the ''New York World''. He worked for the Shubert family, operators of the Broadway theater district, for more than seven years as an actor, director, and writer.
