Basovišča
Basovišča or Basowiszcza (, , pronounced in Belarusian; Belarusian Youth Music Festival) is the festival of Belarusian alternative and rock music, which is annually conducted by the Belarusian Association of Students since 1990. The festival takes place during two July days in the Borak forest in Gmina of Gródek, Poland. The important part of the festival is the music contest, in which young bands compete for prizes - usually money and rights to record their album for free. Well-known stars of Belarusian, Rock music in Ukraine, Ukrainian and Polish rock-scene usually perform there too. From five to twelve thousand people come to the festival every year. Muzykalnaya Gazeta was a Belarusian weekly newspaper that covered music and show business. History The newspaper was founded in Minsk by publisher Anatoĺ Kiriuškin (publishing house "Nestor") in 1996. Initially it came out once per week (later, once every two weeks) in Russian, and was distributed across the Republic of Belarus, as well as through private distributors in the markets of Ukraine and Russia. At first the circulation ranged from 7,000 to 19,500 copies, then it fell sharply and continued to decline in subsequent years; the last issue was published in December 2007 with a circulation of 2,514 copies. By 2003, the newspaper was published in color and informed on the West and the Belarusian and Russian music scenes. Hair Peace Salon is a power pop band from Minsk, Belarus, influenced by Britpop bands and British indie rock. Hair Peace Salon's music is notable in Belarus rock music by its use of English lyrics. The group was founded in 1998, and they have released one full-length album ''Gentleman'', and numerous singles and EPs. In 2013, the members took a break when frontman and co-founder Aleh Vial created another band, Bristeil. History Early years (1998-2001) In 1996, Aleh Vial expressed his desire to play music as early as 1996. The following year, his brother acquired a drum kit for his band, it would be the first instrument Aleh to ever learn to play. Aleh wanted to join his brother's musical group but was not accepted because he did not play any musical instruments at that time.
