Parampara (1990 Film)
''Parampara'' (meaning ''the succession'') is a 1990 Malayalam film, directed by Sibi Malayil, written by S. N. Swamy, and starring Mammootty, Suresh Gopi and Sumalatha. Mammootty plays two roles in the film, portraying both Johnny, the protagonist, and Lawrence, his father. The film was a commercial failure. The film's story was developed by Swamy on the suggestion of Mammootty after watching an English film. The film was loosely remade in Hindi as ''Phool Aur Kaante'' (1991) and in Telugu as ''Varasudu'' (1993), both of which were commercial successes. Plot When his son is kidnapped by a rival gang, Johnny teams up with his estranged father, Lawrence (Johnny's mother was murdered by his father's enemies) to rescue the kidnapped child. Sibi (; ;) is a city situated in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. The city serves as the administrative headquarters of the district and tehsil of the same name. Chithra (21 May 1965 – 21 August 2021) was an Indian actress best known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil films. She had acted in more than 100 films. She acted along with Prem Nazir and Mohanlal in her first film '' Aattakalasam'' in 1983. She was nicknamed "Nallennai Chithra" because of the fame she attained with the advertisement of an oil company she had acted in. Sreekumaran Thampi (born 16 March 1940) is an Indian lyricist, music director, film director, director, film producer, producer and screenwriter in Malayalam cinema. He also writes poetry and is a recipient of the Vallathol Award. In 2017, he was awarded the J. C. Daniel Award, Kerala government's highest honour for contributions to Malayalam cinema.
