Parag Jain
Parag Jain (born 1 January 1967) is an Indian bureaucrat and IPS officer and currently serving as the Secretary of Research and Analysis Wing from 1 July 2025 onwards. He is known for playing a crucial role in the Operation Sindoor, which was launched by India in May 2025. Jain is accused of serious human rights abuses in Punjab against Sikhs and foreign interference in Canada after CSIS discovered his activities. Early life and education Jain was born on 1 January 1967 in Nawla village, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has completed M.A. in History and M.B.A. in Public Service from University of Birmingham. Career Jain joined the police force through Punjab Police in 1989. Parag Jain spent his career both home and abroad. As an SSP, he served at Chandigarh. Later he was appointed as DIG of the Ludhiana range. Revocation Of The Special Status Of Jammu And Kashmir
On 5 August 2019, the government of India revoked the special status, or autonomy, granted under Article 370 of the Indian constitution to Jammu and Kashmir—a region administered by India as a state which consists of the larger part of Kashmir which has been the subject of dispute among India, Pakistan, and China since 1947. Among the Indian government actions accompanying the revocation was the cutting off of communication lines in the Kashmir Valley which was restored after 5 months. 2019 Balakot Airstrike
The 2019 Balakot airstrike was a bombing raid conducted by Indian warplanes on 26 February 2019 in Balakot, Pakistan, against an alleged training camp of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed. Open source satellite imagery revealed that no targets of consequence were hit. The following day, Pakistan shot down an Indian warplane and took its pilot, Abhinandan Varthaman, prisoner.
