''Paradize'' is a 2002 album recorded by France, French band Indochine (band), Indochine. It was its ninth studio album and was released on 14 May 2002. It achieved great success in francophone countries and even topped the albums chart in Belgium (Wallonia). It provided six singles, which became hit singles : "Punker" (#67 in France), "J'ai demandé à la lune" (#1 in France and Belgium, #4 in Switzerland), "Mao Boy" (#18 in France, #20 in Belgium), "Le grand secret" (#9 in France, #35 in Belgium, #37 in Switzerland), "Marilyn" (#22 in France, #25 in Belgium, #71 in Switzerland) and "Un singe en hiver" (#19 in France, #15 in Belgium, #69 in Switzerland). Indochine (band)
Indochine () is a French rock music, rock and New wave music, new wave band formed in Paris in 1981. They became very successful in the Francophonie, Francophone world, Europe and Latin America in the 1980s, with songs like "L'Aventurier" and "Canary Bay". Following the release of several critically acclaimed, but commercially unsuccessful, albums in the 1990s, the group regained success with the release of ''Paradize'' in 2002. Indochine has sold over 10 million albums and singles worldwide. History 1980s Indochine (French for Indochina) was formed in 1981 by two Frenchmen in their early twenties, Nicola Sirkis and Dominique Nicolas, in Paris. They soon added Dimitri Bodiansky, the cousin of one of Nicola's friends. They gave their first concert at Le Rose Bonbon, a café in Paris on 29 September 1981. J'ai Demandé à La Lune
"J'ai demandé à la lune" (I asked the moon) is a song by the French new wave band Indochine, from their 2002 album ''Paradize''. Written by Mickaël Furnon, the singer of Mickey 3D, the song was released as the second single from this album in March 2002, and quickly became a national success, selling over a million units. The album similarly achieved commercial success a few months later. Background and music video During the recording of the album, Indochine's singer Nicola Sirkis asked Pauline, the 8 yo daughter of his friend Rudy Léonet to perform the background vocals. The music video shows Sirkis walking towards the camera with a baby, then a young child in his arms, and finally Pauline appears alongside him and sings a duet with Sirkis. Chart performance The song was listed on the French SNEP Singles Chart, and debuted at number 14 on 13 April 2002 and reached number one for one week on 20 July. Nicolas Henri Didier Sirchis (; born 22 June 1959), better known by his stage name Nicola Sirkis, is a French musician, primarily known for his work as the frontman and singer of the French rock band Indochine. He is the only remaining member of the original line-up of the band which he formed in 1981 with a friend, Dominique Nicolas, soon to be joined by his twin brother Stéphane and Dimitri Bodianski. Jam! was a Canadian website which covered entertainment news. It was part of the Canoe.com online portal, formerly owned and operated by Quebecor through its Sun Media division, and now owned by Postmedia Network. Jam! was the only media outlet that published a comprehensive collection of the official Canadian record charts as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. Jean-Louis Bergheaud (28 January 1952 – 25 May 2023), better known by the stage name Jean-Louis Murat, was a French musician. Life Jean-Louis Bergheaud was born in Chamalières, France to a father who was a carpenter and a non-professional musician. Further to his parents' divorce, he spent his whole youth in the isolated farm of his grandparents in Murat-le-Quaire, a village overviewing the thermal city of La Bourboule, whose name which he would later chose as his pseudonym. Auf der Maur began performing in 1993 after forming the indie rock band Tinker (band), Tinker while she was a student at Concordia University.
