Parada (film)
''The Parade'' ( sr-Cyrl-Latn, Парада, Parada) is a 2011 Serbian comedy-drama film, written and directed by Srđan Dragojević and released on 31 October 2011. The film, which deals with LGBT rights in Serbia, LGBT rights issues in Serbia, features footage of the Belgrade anti-gay riot, 2010 Belgrade gay pride parade. Plot A group of gay activists are trying to organize a pride parade in Belgrade. Among them is Mirko Dedijer, a struggling theater director who mostly makes a living by planning lavish and kitschy wedding ceremonies. Organizing such a parade is no easy task in Serbia as evidenced by the violence at the 2001 attempt. Now, almost a decade later, the situation is not much better – nationalist and right wing groups pose just as much threat particularly as the police refuse to secure the event. Srđan Dragojević
Srđan Dragojević ( sr-cyr, Срђан Драгојевић, , born 1 January 1963) is a Serbian film director and screenwriter, who emerged in the 1990s as a significant figure in Serbian cinema. From 2010 until 2017, he was affiliated with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). In late August 2013 he became an SPS MP in the Serbian National Assembly. Early life and career Born to a journalist father Anđelko Dragojević (1934-2017) hailing from Srbica and a French translator mother Ljiljana, Dragojević once described himself as a "child of middle-level communist nomenklatura in Serbia". Turbo-folk
Turbo-folk is a subgenre of contemporary South Slavs, South Slavic pop music that initially developed in Serbia during the 1990s as a fusion of techno and folk music, folk. The term was an invention of the Montenegro, Montenegrin singer Rambo Amadeus, who jokingly described the aggressive, satirical style of music as "turbo folk". While primarily associated with Serbia, this style is also popular in other former Yugoslav republics. Croatia Turbo-folk grew in Croatia in part due to the popularity of the Croatian singer Severina (singer), Severina's fusion of turbo-folk in her music. Milan Jovanović (strongman)
Milan Jovanović ( sr-Cyrl, Милан Јовановић; born February 5, 1970) is a former WPA and GPC world powerlifting champion and a strongman competitor. He is sometimes known by the nickname Ribcracker. He is also a writer and blogger. Sporting career Jovanović started powerlifting in 1998 and won nine Serbian national championships in a row. Uroš Đurić (; born 4 December 1964) is a Serbian conceptual artist, actor and Painting, painter based in Belgrade. Relja Popović ( sr-cyr, Реља Поповић; born 2 August 1989) is a Serbian actor, rapper and singer. Homing Pigeon
The homing pigeon is a variety of domestic pigeon (''Columba livia domestica''), selectively bred for its ability to find its way home over extremely long distances. Because of this skill, homing pigeons were used to carry messages, a practice referred to as " pigeon post". Until the introduction of telephones, they were used commercially to deliver communication; when used during wars, they were called "war pigeons". The homing pigeon is also called a mail pigeon or messenger, and colloquially a homer.
