Paquito Cordero
Paquito Cordero (October 16, 1932 – June 30, 2009) was a Puerto Rican comedian and music and television producer. He is considered a pioneer of Puerto Rican television. Early years Cordero (birth name: Francisco Cordero Baez) was born to Francisco Cordero Paco and Berta Baez de Cordero in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Cordero attended Santurce Central High School upon finishing his primary and secondary education. He was a member of his high school's drama club and participated in its plays, where he discovered the art of comedy. Cordero was greatly influenced by his aunt on his father's side, Mapy Cortés. Mapy Cortés had moved to Mexico from Puerto Rico, where she became an actress. She married the Puerto Rican-born Mexican actor Fernando Cortés, a childhood friend. El Show de las 12 was a Puerto Rican midday variety television series airing on WKAQ-TV, and later on the nationwide Telemundo network, and hosted by Eddie Miro for most of its run. It aired every week-day for 40 years until its cancellation on February 25, 2005. History Paquito Cordero was working for El Mundo Enterprises as the company launched the first television station in Puerto Rico WKAQ-TV also known as Telemundo in 1964. Cordero approached station owner, Angel Rámos with the idea for a variety show that would feature music and comedy. Miguel Ángel Álvarez
Miguel Ángel Álvarez, also known as "El Men," (August 25, 1928 – January 16, 2011), was a Puerto Rican actor and comedian. Early years Álvarez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and when he was a child his family moved to Bayamón, Puerto Rico, where he was raised and received his primary and secondary education. Career Álvarez began his artistic career as a radio announcer, working for radio station WIAC, which was broadcasting out of Yauco and Bayamón. On October 31, 1950, Álvarez was among a group of reporters who covered the gunfight at ''Salón Boricua'' between Vidal Santiago Díaz, a Nationalist who was the personal barber of Pedro Albizu Campos, and forty police and National Guardsmen during the San Juan Nationalist revolt. Otilio Warrington
Otilio Warrington, known popularly as Bizcocho (born February 26, 1949) is a comedian, best known for his roles of "Bizcocho" and "Cuca Gómez". Early years Warrington was born in the Barrio Obrero area of Santurce, Puerto Rico. When he was nine years old, his family moved to the Lloréns Torres public housing project. There he lived for the next 25 years. Warrington left school when he was a teenager and made a living by polishing shoes at a local barbershop. One of the barbershop's regular customers was Tommy Muñiz, a television show producer. One day Warrington asked Muñiz for a job in television but was told to get some more education and come back to him after he graduated. Juan Manuel Lebrón
Juan Manuel Lebrón Román (born April 22, 1947) is a Puerto Rican actor, comedian, model, screenwriter, television producer and salsa singer. Career Juan Manuel Lebrón Román began his show business career as a youngster, then when he became a singer at the Sexteto Ritmico group. Not long after, Lebrón became the lead singer of Orquesta Sensacional, a popular salsa orchestra of the era. In 1976, Lebrón made his debut as an actor, when he was hired to play "JuanMa" in channel 2's comedy show, " En Casa de JuanMa y Wiwi" ("At JuanMa and Wiwi's Home"). Awilda "Wiwi" Carbia (January 30, 1938 – March 22, 2009) was a Puerto Rican actress, comedian, and impersonator. Early years Awilda Carbia started her acting career at age seven. Lou Briel (born October 19 Santurce, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican singer, composer, comedian, record producer, pianist, and host, among other things. Musical career Early years with Anexo 3 Lou Briel started his career at a very young age as a singer, director and member of a pop musical group called ''Anexo 3''. Together they recorded four albums, the first two produced by Alfred D. Herger, and reached popularity with songs such as: "Oh, Cuanto te Amo" ("Oh, how much I love you"), "Contigo" (With you), & "Por eso estoy Preso", (That's why I'm a prisoner), among others. Raquel Montero (born 1944 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine-Puerto Rican television and theater actress, show host and comedian. She is better known for her extensive work on Puerto Rican television during the 1970s and 1980s, on canal 2 television shows. Early life Montero was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Luis Antonio Rivera (April 9, 1930 – November 30, 2023), also known as "Yoyo Boing", was a Puerto Rican actor, comedian and television show host, who was also one of the pioneers of Puerto Rican television. Early years Rivera Benítez was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on April 9, 1930 to Juan Antonio Rivera and Josefa Benítez Ortíz. His parents moved to Santurce, where he spent his childhood and adolescence, from Humacao when he was only three years old.
