Paola Cardullo
Paola Cardullo (born 18 March 1982 in Omegna) is a volleyball player from Italy, who was a member of the Women's National Team that won the gold medal at the 2007 European Championship in Belgium and Luxembourg. There she was named ''Best Libero'' of the tournament. Career Cardullo also competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where Italy ended up in fifth place and she was named ''Best Libero'' at the end of the Olympic tournament. She won the bronze medal at the 2007–08 CEV Indesit Champions League with Asystel Novara and also was individually awarded ''Best Libero''. In the 2012-12 champions league, Cardullo played with the French club RC Cannes, capturing the silver medal and the Best Libero award. Cardullo played with her national team at the 2014 World Championship. There her team ended up in fourth place after losing 2-3 to Brazil the bronze medal match. Omegna
Omegna (, , ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about northeast of Turin and about southwest of Verbania at the northernmost point of Lago d’Orta and traversed by the Nigoglia, the lake's sole outflow. 2009 Women's European Volleyball Championship
The 2009 Women's European Volleyball Championship was the 26th edition of the European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. The cities that hosted matches were Bydgoszcz, Łódź, Katowice and Wrocław in Poland, from 25 September to 4 October 2009. Qualification Format The tournament was played in three different stages. In the first stage, the sixteen participants were divided in four groups (A, B, C and D) of four teams each. RC Cannes
RC Cannes is a French women's volleyball club based in Cannes and playing in the Ligue AF. History was created as a sports club in 1922 and the volleyball department was introduced in 1942. Originally it had both men and women's teams until 1948 when the men's team was dissolved. The club played in regional and lower national leagues and when the national league was restructured in 1967, it gained a place in the elite league. The club proved to be competitive and after finishing second in 1972, it qualified for the first time to play in a European competition (Cup Winners Cup). In 1993, Chinese coach Yan Fang was hired and the club became very successful. Asystel Volley
Asystel Volley was an Italian women's volleyball club based in Novara. It played in the Serie A1 from its creation in 2003 until its dissolution in 2012. The Italy women's national volleyball team is governed by the Federazione Italiana Pallavolo (FIPAV).
