Collage Film
Collage film is a style of film created by juxtaposing Found footage (appropriation), found footage from disparate sources (archival footage, excerpts from other films, newsreels, home movies, etc.). The term has also been applied to the physical collaging of materials onto film stock. Surrealist roots The surrealist movement played a critical role in the creation of the collage film form. ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' (abbreviated as ''MST3K'') is an American science fiction comedy television series created by Joel Hodgson. Rick Prelinger
Rick Prelinger is an American archivist, writer, and filmmaker. He is also professor emeritus at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Prelinger is best known as the founder of the Prelinger Archives, a collection of 60,000 advertising, educational, industrial, and amateur films acquired by the Library of Congress in 2002 after 20 years' operation. Rick has partnered with the Internet Archive to make over 6,000 films from Prelinger Archives available online for free viewing, downloading and reuse. With the Voyager Company, a pioneer new media publisher, he produced fourteen LaserDiscs and CD-ROMs with material from his archives, including Ephemeral Films'' the ''Our Secret Century'' series and ''Call It Home: The House That Private Enterprise Built,'' a laserdisc on the history of suburbia and suburban planning (co-produced with architect Keller Easterling). The film is included on DVD in a special edition of the album, playing at half speed and featuring the album's music soundtrack as opposed to the original. Plot The film centers on Andrew, a thirteen-year-old boy stricken with grief over the recent death of his mother. On the day of her death, her radio stops working, and Andrew believes that if he can repair it his mother will return. He is left with a cold, emotionally distant stepfather. He is also teased relentlessly in school, which leads him to bring a gun with him. During an altercation with another student in a physical education class, he fires the gun, injuring no one.
