Panjim Footballers
Panjim Footballers Club, or simply known as Panjim Footballers, is an Indian professional football club based in Panjim, Goa, that competes in the Goa Professional League. It's women's team previously participated in the Indian Women's League, and currently participates in GFA Vedanta Women's League. History Established in 1978 as an small city club, Panjim Footballers started playing in inter-village tournaments and GFA age-group tournaments and won many small tournaments. In 2021, Panjim Footballers won Goa Police Cup, their only major tournament since their inception in 1978. They defeated Dempo SC 1–0 at Duler Stadium in the final. Duler Stadium
Duler Stadium is a football stadium located in Mapusa, Goa, India. It is the former home of local I-League clubs who participated in the highest level of football in the country. Dempo SC, Salgaocar FC, and Sporting Clube de Goa use the venue for most of their home games. It also serves as home ground for other Goa Professional League clubs such as Vasco. The Goa Professional League (abbreviated as GPL, also known as the Selvel Goa Pro League for sponsorship reasons) is the premier state-level football league in Goa, India. It is organised by the Goa Football Association. History The official league in Goa, called the ''First division'', began in 1951 and was organised by the Conselho de Desportos. The first Llague champion of Goa was Clube Desportivo de Chinchinim who beat Football Club of Siolim, to clinch the title. Panaji (; also known as Panjim) is the capital of the Indian state of Goa and the headquarters of North Goa district. Previously, it was the territorial capital of the former Portuguese India. The Indian Women's League, known as ''Hero Indian Women's League'' for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp is the women's top tier professional football league in Indian football. Founded in 2016, currently a total of 18 teams from across the country will participate in the league from 2022-23 Season. The competition was planned since 2014 and got established in 2016, with the first season starting from October 2016 in Cuttack. The league was launched as India's first professional football league for women with the aim to increase the player pool for India national team. Goa Police Cup
The Goa Police Cup is an annual football tournament organized by the Sports Cell of Goa Police. The tournament is played between the top teams of Goa Professional League and GFA First Division League and sometimes an invitational team from India. Goa Police Cup is one of the oldest tournaments in Goa, starting since 1968. The competition is played in a group stage followed by knockout. Vasco won the inaugural edition. The current champions (2021) are Panjim footballers who defeated Dempo sports club.
