Pandurang Arjun Madkaikar is an Indian politician and a former Minister in the Government of Goa. He is member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Madkaikar is a former member of the Goa Legislative Assembly from the Cumbarjua (Goa Assembly constituency), Cumbarjua constituency in North Goa. Personal life Pandurang Madkaikar was born on 10 September 1964. His wife Janita is the sarpanch of the Old Goa gram panchayat, Village Panchayat. Political career Madkaikar was first elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly from the Cumbarjua (Goa Assembly constituency), Cumbarjua constituency in 2002 Assembly elections as a candidate of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and became the Transport Minister of Goa in the coalition government headed by Manohar Parrikar. 2012 Goa Legislative Assembly Election
The Goa legislative assembly election was held on 3 March 2012, to select the 40 members of the Sixth Goa Legislative Assembly, as the term of Sixth Legislative Assembly ended on March 2012. The result was announced on 6 March. The Bharatiya Janata Party-Maharashtrawadi Gomantak alliance defeated the incumbent Indian National Congress government in Goa led by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat with 24 seats in the 40-seat assembly. The Bharatiya Janata Party won 21 seats, while the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party won 3 seats. The MLA with the biggest margin of victory was the incumbent MLA Frances D'Souza of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Francisco Casimiro Jerónimo Agnelo Pinto de Souza known as Francis Dsouza (4 October 1954 – 14 February 2019) was an Indian Politician from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who served as the Deputy Chief Minister of the Indian State of Goa. He contested from Mapusa (Vidhan Sabha constituency) as an independent unsuccessfully in 1989.
