Panathinaikos V.C. (), also known simply as Panathinaikos, or with its full name Panathinaikos A.O. (, transliterated "Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilos", ''Panathenaic Athletic Club'') is the professional volleyball team of the major Athens based multi- sport club Panathinaikos A.O. Founded in 1919, it is one of the oldest and most successful volleyball clubs in Greece. They have won 21 Greek Championships finishing 6 times undefeated (1962–63, 1965–66, 1966–67, 1969–70, 1970–71, 1974–75), 6 Greek Cups, 3 Greek League Cups and 2 Greek Super Cups. They have reached also twice the CEV Cup final (1979–80, 2008–09). Jakub Novotný (born 20 April 1979) is a Czech former professional volleyball player, a former member of the Czech Republic national team. Career With PGE Skra Bełchatów he won two titles of the Polish Champion (2010, 2011), Polish Cup and a bronze medal of the Champions League, two silver medals of the Club World Championship (2009, 2010). Giorgos Kalafatis
Giorgos Kalafatis (; 17 March 1890 – 19 February 1964) was a Greek football pioneer, player, coach, track and field athlete and the founder of Panathinaikos Athens multi-sports club. Sports career Being a big athletic talent, he distinguished himself in track and field sports. But football was his big passion. He played for Ethnikos G.S. Athens and when his later club Panellinios decided to discontinue its football team, Kalafatis together with 40 other athletes broke away and established in February 1908 the first team of Panathinaikos, named Podosfairikos Omilos Athinon (''Football Club of Athens''). Zagumny was a member of the Poland national team from 1996 to 2014 and a participant in 4 Olympic Games ( Atlanta 1996, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012).
