Panasonic–Isostar
Panasonic was a Dutch professional cycling team, sponsored by the Matsushita Corporation, formed in 1984 by team manager Peter Post, when the TI–Raleigh main sponsors, withdrew sponsorship. Some of the riders, followed Jan Raas to his newly formed team, Kwantum Hallen–Decosol. Peter Post retained some riders, and rebuilt his team, with riders, who became one of the most dominant teams, for both classics, and stage races. The Panasonic team, had a reputation for always having the best equipment, vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, team clothing by Descente 1984-87 / AGU 1988-89 & Biemme 1990–92, team bicycles from Raleigh 1984–85 / Eddy Merckx 1986–87 & Colnago 1988–89, were always fitted with Italian Campagnolo groupsets. Peter Post
Peter Post (12 November 193314 January 2011) was a Dutch professional cyclist whose career lasted from 1956 to 1972. Post competed in road and track racing. As a rider he is best remembered for Six-day racing, having competed in 155 races and won 65. Because of this success he was known as “De Keizer van de Zesdaagse†or “The Emperor of the Six Daysâ€. In road racing his main achievements were winning the 1964 Paris–Roubaix and becoming national road race champion in 1963. He was on the podium three times at the La Flèche Wallonne but never won. Post’s other nickname was “de Lange†or “Big Manâ€, because he was tall for a cyclist. Gives nicknames and birth date. After retiring from racing he had success as a directeur sportif. Danny Clark (cyclist)
Daniel Clark OAM (born 30 August 1951) is an Australian former track cyclist and road bicycle racer, who was a professional rider from 1974 to 1997. He won five world championships and at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany, came second in the 1,000m time trial. Clark was often the fastest finishing rider in six-day races, especially as Patrick Sercu slowed after the mid-1970s. Clark and British rider, Tony Doyle, won many six-day races. He enjoyed the party atmosphere of the races, and continued to work in them as a Derny pacer after retiring. Biography Clark began cycling on a bike borrowed from a local enthusiast, which he used for three months before acquiring his eldest brother's semi-racer. He became one of the most successful riders in six-day racing in the 1970s and 1980s, winning 74 races, second to Patrick Sercu's 88. Phil Anderson (cyclist)
Philip Grant Anderson (born 20 March 1958) is a British-born Australian former professional racing cyclist who was the first non-European to wear the yellow jersey of the Tour de France. Origins Phil Anderson was born in London but moved to Melbourne, Australia, when he was young. He grew up in the suburb of Kew and graduated from Trinity Grammar School in 1975. Urs Freuler
Urs Freuler (born 6 November 1958) is a Swiss cyclist, who raced professionally between 1980 and 1997, during which he won 124 victories. He was named Swiss Sports Personality of the Year in 1982 and 1983. Career He was born in Bilten. As an amateur, he was the champion of his country in several categories and also achieved fame in international competitions. He was a racer of great speed, who participated both in road races as well as track cycling. In the latter, he was the world champion in the keirin twice and the points race eight times and victor in 21 six-day races. On the road, he was victorious in numerous stages and criteriums. Bert Oosterbosch
Bert Oosterbosch (30 July 1957 – 18 August 1989) was a Dutch racing cyclist. Oosterbosch was a successful Track cycling, track and Road bicycle racing, road racer. Early career In 1978, he won the World amateur team time trial championship (with Jan van Houwelingen (cyclist), Jan van Houwelingen, Bart van Est and Guus Bierings). A year later, he turned professional for the TI–Raleighteam of Peter Post. That year he won the World Professional individual pursuit title beating Francesco Moser in the final. He was also three times Dutch pursuit champion. Road success As a professional Oosterbosch was especially successful in Individual time trial, time trials; he won 14 stage race prologues, including three in the Tour de France. Eddy Bouwmans (born 30 January 1968) is a Dutch former road bicycle racer. Bouwmans currently works as a Hospitality Coordinator for UCI WorldTeam . Career In 1989 at the Tour DuPont Bouwmans finished third in the opening time-trial less than four seconds behind the winner. Bouwmans won the young rider classification in the 1992 Tour de France. Peter Johannes Gertrudis Winnen (born 5 September 1957) is a Dutch former road racing cyclist. He competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics in road racing and finished in 26th place. After the Games he turned professional in 1981. Among his 14 victories were two stages at Alpe d'Huez in the Tour de France and a national championship. He came third in the Tour de France in 1983. Viatcheslav Ekimov
Viatcheslav Vladimirovich Ekimov (Russian Ð’ÑчеÑлав Владимирович Екимов; born 4 February 1966) is a Russian former professional racing cyclist. A triple Olympic gold medalist, he was awarded the title of Russian Cyclist of the Century in 2001. Biography Ekimov was born in Vyborg, and started training as a cyclist at age 12 with a bicycle school affiliated with the famous centre of Aleksandr Kuznetsov. He trained in Leningrad at Lokomotiv and later Armed Forces sports society during the Soviet era. Ekimov won three Olympic gold medals: in the track team pursuit in Seoul (1988) for the USSR, and in an upset, in the road time trial in Sydney (2000) for Russia. Eric Vanderaerden
Eric Vanderaerden (born 11 February 1962) is a Belgian retired road cyclist. He was a considerable talent, winning the prologue time trial of the Vuelta a España in his debut year of 1983. During the 1983 Tour de France he also won the prologue and held the yellow jersey for two days. During the 1984 Tour de France he won two stages, including the final stage of the race which finished on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. His participation in the 1985 edition was a strong one, beating the eventual Tour winner Bernard Hinault in a time trial stage. He held the yellow jersey again during this tour, this time for three days. The following year, he won the green jersey. In subsequent years, he won two monument races: in 1985, at 23, he won the storm ridden edition of the Tour of Flanders, and in 1987 he won Paris–Roubaix.
