Pamela Warhurst
Pamela Janice Warhurst (born 1950) is a British community leader, activist and environment worker best known for founding the voluntary gardening initiative, Incredible Edible, in Todmorden, West Yorkshire. In 2009, Prince Charles visited the project in support. Warhurst is currently Chair of Incredible Edible and Chair of the Todmorden Town Deal regeneration board and was formerly Chair of Forestry Commission Great Britain, which is the largest land management commission in the country. She was also Chair of The Incredible Aquagarden, a social enterprise demonstrating and teaching urban farming (dissolved) and Chair of Handmade Parade a leading community arts enterprise, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts & Manufacturing and is an Honorary Fellow of Landscape Institute and Leeds Becket University. Incredible Edible Todmorden Project
The Incredible Edible project is an urban gardening project which was started in 2008 by Pamela Warhurst, Mary Clear and a group of like minded people in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, UK.Paull, John (2011"Incredible Edible Todmorden: Eating the Street" Farming Matters, 27(3):28-29. The project aims to bring people together through actions around local food and community allotments, helping to change behaviour towards the environment and to build a kinder and more resilient world. Calderdale
Calderdale () is a metropolitan borough of West Yorkshire, England, which had a population of 211,439. It takes its name from the River Calder, and dale, a word for valley. The name Calderdale usually refers to the borough through which the upper river flows, while the actual landform is known as the Calder Valley. Several small valleys contain tributaries of the River Calder. The main towns of the borough are Brighouse, Elland, Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding valuable service in a wide range of useful activities. South Pennines
The South Pennines is a region of moorland and hill country in northern England lying towards the southern end of the Pennines. In the west it includes the Rossendale Valley and the West Pennine Moors. It is bounded by the Greater Manchester conurbation in the west and the Bowland Fells and Yorkshire Dales to the north. Yorkshire Forward was the regional development agency (RDA) for the Yorkshire and the Humber region of the United Kingdom. Todmorden
Todmorden ( ; ) is a market town and civil parish in the Upper Calder Valley in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. It is north-east of Manchester, south-east of Burnley and west of Halifax, West Yorkshire, Halifax. In 2011, it had a population of 15,481. Countryside Agency
The Countryside Agency was a statutory body set up in England in 1999 with the task of improving the quality of the rural environment and the lives of those living in it. The agency was dissolved in 2006 and its functions dispersed among other bodies. Formation The agency was formed by merging the Countryside Commission and the Rural Development Commission. Its powers were inherited from those bodies. The agency was based in Cheltenham with smaller offices in London and the regions. Total staff numbers were around 600. Role The Agency was a government-funded advisory and promotional body; it owned no land and managed no facilities.
