Palms (band)
Palms is an American post-metal supergroup that formed in 2011. The group features Deftones' vocalist Chino Moreno and three members of the post-metal band Isis: bassist Jeff Caxide, drummer Aaron Harris and guitarist Bryant Clifford Meyer. History After the demise of Isis in 2010, Caxide, Harris and Meyer decided they wanted to continue making music together. Moreno, a longtime Isis fan, joined later, saying, "I've always dug the moods these dudes convey with their sound. I am excited to combine my sense of creativity with theirs, and to have fun doing so". Palms also proved to be an outlet for Caxide, Harris and Meyer to expand their sound beyond what Isis was. Caxide said, "I think a lot of people are expecting this to sound like Isis with Chino singing. That's not what this is, because that's not exciting". Thrice
Thrice is an American rock band from Irvine, California, formed in 1998. The group was founded by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Kensrue and lead guitarist Teppei Teranishi while they were in high school. Early in their career, the band was known for melodic hardcore punk music based in heavily distorted guitars, prominent lead guitar lines, and frequent changes in complex time signatures. This style is exemplified on their second album, '' The Illusion of Safety'' (2002) and their third album '' The Artist in the Ambulance'' (2003). Their fourth album '' Vheissu'' (2005) made significant changes by incorporating electronic beats, keyboards, and a more experimental sound. Queens of the Stone Age (commonly abbreviated as QOTSA or QotSA) is an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1996. The band was founded by vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme shortly before he returned to his native Palm Desert, California. Homme has been the only constant member throughout multiple line-up changes; since 2013, the line-up has consisted of Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar, lap steel, keyboards, percussion, backing vocals), Michael Shuman (bass, keyboards, backing vocals), Dean Fertita (keyboards, guitar, percussion, backing vocals), and Jon Theodore (drums, percussion). ''Decibel'' is a monthly heavy metal magazine published by the Philadelphia-based Red Flag Media since September 2004. The Cliff (EP)
''The Cliff'' is the sixth EP by American post-metal band Pelican, released through Southern Lord Records on February 24, 2015. Despite Pelican being a predominantly instrumental band, two of the EP's four tracks feature vocals. ''The Cliff'' was released digitally, as a standard 12-inch vinyl, and as an orange vinyl limited to 1,000 copies. Content ''The Cliff'' features three altered versions of its title track, which originated from Pelican's 2013 studio album, '' Forever Becoming''. The first of these versions is "The Cliff" with vocals by Allen Epley, who had previously provided his voice on the closing track of Pelican's 2009 album, '' What We All Come to Need''. The second track is a remix by Godflesh frontman and Pelican inspiration Justin Broadrick. Pelican (band)
Pelican is an American post-metal band from Chicago, Illinois. Established in 2001, the band is known for their atmospheric and almost entirely instrumental style. They have released six studio albums and six EPs. History and style The band is known for dense combinations of different melodies and extended track lengths. It may be classified as stoner rock, doom metal, or post-rock. Larry Herweg, Trevor de Brauw, and Laurent Schroeder-Lebec are also three members of the band Tusk. Pelican were first affiliated with Hydra Head Records but by 2009 signed with Southern Lord Records roster. Pelican toured with Wolves in the Throne Room to support their first EP for Southern Lord, ''Ephemeral'', released on June 6, 2009. '' What We All Come to Need'' was released on October 27, 2009. ''All Re-Mixed Up'' is a remix album by Puscifer. It was released on August 27, 2013 by Puscifer Entertainment. It contains alternate versions, remixes and reworks of the 12 songs from Puscifer's second studio album, ''Conditions of My Parole''. The album also features previous Puscifer contributors, such as Carina Round, and new musicians, such as Sir Mix-a-Lot, as remixers. Samples of the entire album were released for streaming via Amazon.com, Amazon on July 17, 2013. Puscifer () is an American rock group formed in Los Angeles by Maynard James Keenan, known as the lead singer of the bands Tool and A Perfect Circle. Initially, Keenan was the only permanent member, and as such he considered the project to be his "creative subconscious". Later, frequent collaborators Mat Mitchell and Carina Round became permanent members. Background Puscifer's original name was Umlaut, "a premiere improvisational hardcore band". The name "Puscifer" was first publicized as a fictional band in the first episode of '' Mr. Show'', including Keenan and Adam Jones as members. Jones is not associated with Puscifer otherwise, although artwork by Jones has been featured on Puscifer apparel (the "Your Mom's a Bitch" shirt, specifically).
