Palluruthy ( ml, പള്ളുരുത്തി) is a region in the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. Palluruthy is part a of the water bound West Kochi, lying westward to the Kochi mainland. Palluruthy comprises the regions Thoppumpady, Perumpadappu, Edakochi, Mundamveli and Kumbalanghi. The place is famous for its temples landscapes, backwaters and lotus pond. A historical trade fair called Pulavanibham is held every year at Palluruthy during the Malayalam month Dhanu. Facilities There are many Hindu temples like Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple and Azhakiyakavu Bhagavathi Temple. Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple, in the city was established by Sree Narayana Guru on 8 March 1916. Pulavanibham
Palluruthy Pulavanibha Mela, shortly called as Pulavanibham, is a historical trade festival held every year since the late 1700's at Palluruthy in Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. The festival is a commemoration of Palluruthy Azhakiyakav Devi's entry into the temple as per the special proclamation of the King of Kochi in 1700's, when the lower caste community was denied entry to the temple. Through this proclamation, the north side of the temple was opened to the Pulaya people on the last Thursday of the month of Malayalam month Dhanu in every year. At that time, lower caste people from Kochi, Malabar and Travancore used to travel for several days to reach here. They used to sell the products they made in the temple premises to pay for their travel expenses. But upper caste people called it as ''Pulavanibham'' (business by Pulayas). Edakochi
Edakochi is one of the oldest districts in southern Kochi (or Cochin), India. It borders Palluruthy to the northwest and is separated from Aroor to the south and Kumbalam, Ernakulam to the east by the Kerala backwaters. Bridges and roads The Edakochi Kannangatt Bridge links Kannangat to the Indian Maritime University junction on NH 966B (Kundanoor Willingdon Highway). Thoppumpady is a region in the city of Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. It connects the tourist destinations Mattancherry, Fort Kochi, Palluruthy and Willingdon Island. Aroor is a census town at the northern end of Alappuzha district and the southern suburb of the city of Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. Kumbalangi is an island village in the outskirts of Kochi city in the state of Kerala, India. Situated amidst backwaters, around 12 km (7.5 mi) from the city center, Kumbalangi is a major tourist attraction and is famous for its Chinese fishing nets.
