Palestinian Civil Police Force
The Palestinian Civil Police Force (PCP; ) is the police, Civil Police organization tasked with traditional law enforcement duties in the autonomous territory governed by the Palestinian National Authority. The Civil Police is a part of the Palestinian Security Services. Since the Battle of Gaza (2007), Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip the control of the Civil Police in Gaza Strip was placed under the jurisdiction of Hamas, while the Police forces in the West Bank remain under Palestinian National Authority. History The Civil Police was formally established with the May 1994 signing of the Gaza–Jericho Agreement, a chapter in the Oslo Accords process, under the umbrella of the Shin Bet, General Security Service. Founded with over 10,000 officers, it was the largest substituent of the Palestinian National Security Forces.

Palestinian Authority
The Palestinian Authority (PA), officially known as the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), is the Fatah-controlled government body that exercises partial civil control over the Palestinian enclaves in the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Israeli-occupied West Bank as a consequence of the 1993–1995 Oslo Accords. The Palestinian Authority controlled the Gaza Strip prior to the 2006 Palestinian legislative election, Palestinian elections of 2006 and the subsequent Battle of Gaza (2007), Gaza conflict between the Fatah and Hamas parties, when it lost control to Hamas; the PA continues to claim the Gaza Strip, although Hamas exercises ''de facto'' control.
