The Palazzo Benvenuti Arrigoni Albergoni is a noble residence located in Crema, Lombardy, northern Italy. It is located on the Via Cavour, 8. The approach is through an archway from the street, which then leads through an iron gate into the main courtyard. The palace was built in the 14th century by the Benvenuti family who owned it until the end of the 18th century. Crema (; Cremasco: ) is a city and ''comune'' in the province of Cremona, in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy. It is built along the river Serio at from Cremona. It is also the seat of the Catholic Bishop of Crema, who gave the title of city to Crema. Villa Albergoni is a villa (or country mansion) in Moscazzano, Cremona, Lombardy, northern Italy that dates back to the 16th-century. Due to previous owners, it is also known as ''Palazzo'' or ''Villa Vimercati'', ''Villa Griffoni'' or ''Villa Sant'Angelo''. It is located at 3, Via Montodine. History Villa Albergoni is located on a plateau near the Adda river, in a marshy area that was politically difficult to control on the border between the Republic of Venice and the Duchy of Milan. The early document "Desegnio di Crema et del Cremasco", published in Venice between 1482 and 1497, describes Crema as a fortified village with crenelated houses and an isolated watchtower. The powerful Milanese Vimercati family settled in Crema, probably in the 13th century, and the fiefdom of Moscazzano was entrusted in 1499. The Palazzo Donati De' Conti, formerly Albergoni family, Albergoni, Vimercati, is a palace in Crema, Lombardy, Crema. History The origins of the palace are unknown, but the documented history from the 17th century is characterised by frequent changes of ownership.AA.VV. p. 17 . The first known information dates back to 1663 when Doctor Mario Albergoni, descendant of a family ennobled in 1519, lived in the property. Upon his death the property passed to his brother, Canon Camillo and from him to Cristoforo Zurla who married an Albergoni heiress, adding his wife's surname and giving life to the Zurla Albergoni branch. Cristoforo's son, Marc’Antonio Maria, died childless in 1757 so the mansion was inherited by his second wife, Isabella Vimercati Sanseverino.
