PalaTrieste, officially known as Palazzo dello sport Cesare Rubini is an indoor sporting arena located in Trieste, Italy. Opened in 1999, it has a seating capacity for 6,943 people and is currently home for Pallacanestro Trieste basketball team. History Allianz sponsorship All started when, in 2015, Allianz became new top sponsor of the Italian basketball team Pallacanestro Trieste, based in PalaTrieste. In 2017, the German insurance company sponsored a new parquet basketball court, and later in 2018, a new scoreboard called ''Allianz Wall'' was installed in the Trieste arena. In 2018 Allianz signed a deal to become new title sponsor of the arena, so PalaTrieste officially became Allianz Dome until 2023. Pallacanestro Trieste
Pallacanestro Trieste 2004 is an Italian professional basketball club based in Trieste. They played in the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) for five seasons (2018–19 LBA season, 2018–19 to 2022–23 LBA season, 2022–23 season); after winning playoffs of Serie A2 (basketball), Serie A2 in 2023–24 season they are going to join again Lega Basket Serie A in the 2024–25 season. The Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) is a professional men's club (sport), club basketball list of basketball leagues, league that has been organised in Italy since 1920. Serie A is organised by Lega Basket, which is regulated by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP). It is the highest-tier level of the Italian basketball league system, Italian league system. Cesare Rubini
Cesare Rubini (2 November 19238 February 2011) was an Italian professional basketball player and coach, and a water polo player. He was considered to be one of the greatest European basketball coaches of all time. Rubini was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1994, making him the first, and to this day, just one of three Italian basketball figures to receive such an honour, alongside Dino Meneghin and Sandro Gamba. He was also inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2002, he was awarded the FIBA Order of Merit. He was inducted into the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame, in 2006.
