Pakistan Handball Federation ( ur, پاکستان ہینڈبال فیڈریشن) (PHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball in Islamic Republic of Pakistan. PHF is an affiliated member of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF). History In Pakistan, sport of handball was introduced by Muhammad Shafiq in 1984 at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, which is hub of handball in Pakistan since then. During the National Games of Pakistan, 20th National Games of Pakistan which was staged in Faisalabad, an exhibition match between National Athletics & Fitness Club and University of Agriculture, Faisalabad was played at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. Beach Handball
Beach handball is a team sport where two teams pass and bounce or roll a ball, trying to throw it in the goal of the opposing team. The game is similar to standard handball, but it is played on sand instead of on a solid floor. Because the ball loses most of its bounce on sand, there is little to no dribbling, and players instead perform more passing as the rules of Handball#Team_players,_substitutes,_and_officials, travelling still apply. Description Matches are played as best two-out-of-three sets. If teams are tied at the end of a regular set then the teams play for a golden goal. If the teams are tied at the end of 2 sets then the teams will participate in a tie breaker. Pakistan National Beach Handball Team
The Pakistan national beach handball team () is the men's beach handball team that has represented Pakistan in international competitions. It is governed by the Pakistan Handball Federation. History Pakistan has one of the most successful national beach handball teams from South Asia in international competitions, having won the Asian Championship in 2007 and Asian Beach Games in 2008. Pakistan national team made their debut in IHF World Championship at the 2008 edition, finishing at 10th position. Historical results Pakistan is one of the most successful handball team of South Asia, winning 2 gold and 1 silver medal at the Handball at the South Asian Games, South Asian Games.
