Painter (video Game)
''Painter'' is a 1994 maze video game developed and published by Sinister Developments for the Atari ST. In the game, the player guides a sprite across a grid to fill enclosed areas. Sinister initially released ''Painter'' for the Atari ST as shareware. Players could also register the game through Sinister to receive a full version with additional levels and a level editor. The full version was later made available as freeware. An Atari Jaguar CD version with new levels was released in 2003, and a licensed cartridge version with new levels was released in 2024. ''Painter'' received a generally favorable reception, with reviewers praising the gameplay, digitized sound effects, and smooth presentation. Other reviewers felt the game was fun but dated, with criticism directed at minor bugs and the lack of save support. Atari ST is a line of personal computers from Atari Corporation and the successor to the company's Atari 8-bit computers, 8-bit computers. The initial model, the Atari 520ST, had limited release in April–June 1985, and was widely available in July. Europress was a British magazine and software publisher based in Adlington, near Macclesfield, Cheshire. Their magazine publishing business was previously known as Database Publications. ST Review
''ST Review'' was a computer magazine in the United Kingdom covering the Atari ST during the early to mid 1990s. Published by EMAP and launched in May 1992 and placed at the "serious end" of the market, it catered to ST users who wished to use their ST for a variety of productive uses, such as its MIDI capabilities, programming or word processing, as opposed to casual gaming. The title was sold to Europress after EMAP decided to close it due to lower-than-expected sales and it ran for another two years with freelance Editor Vic Lennard, full-time Deputy Editor Tony Kaye, and a full-time designer. This three-person team, along with freelance contributors, kept the magazine popular for almost two years before it finally succumbed to falling sales and the lack of success of Atari's Falcon, the expected replacement of the ST. AtariAge is a website focusing on classic Atari video games. The site features gaming news, historical archives, discussion forums, and an online store. It was founded in 1998. Classic Gaming Expo was a gaming convention dedicated to the people, systems and games of the past, with an emphasis on old video games. The Expo was founded in 1999 by John Hardie, Sean Kelly and Keita Iida, In 2000, Joe Santulli replaced Iida as the show's co-organizer. The conventions have typically been held in the Las Vegas Valley, Nevada, but have sometimes been held in Silicon Valley.
