Pagans (band)
The Pagans were an American punk rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, United States, that was originally active from 1977 to 1979. They reformed several times, from 1982 to 1983, from 1986 to 1989 and again from 2014 to 2017. Along with fellow Cleveland band The Dead Boys, the Pagans were part of the first wave of American punk music, and were also part of the second wave of Cleveland proto-punk and post-punk bands such as Pere Ubu. Their song "What's This Shit Called Love?" was covered by the Meatmen on their 1985 album ''War of the Superbikes''. History 1970s The precursor to the Pagans was basement garage rock band the Mad Staggers, formed in 1974 by brothers Mike Hudson (guitar) and Brian “Brian Morgan" Hudson (drums), and bassist Tim Allee. Proto-punk
Proto-punk (or protopunk) is rock music from the 1960s to mid-1970s that foreshadowed the punk rock genre and movement. A retrospective label, the musicians involved were generally not originally associated with each other and came from a variety of backgrounds and styles; together, they anticipated many of punk's musical and thematic attributes. Sepsis is a potentially life-threatening condition that arises when the body's response to infection causes injury to its own tissues and organs. Jeff Dahl (born 1955) is an American musician. Dahl recorded his first single, "Rock N Roll Critic", in 1977, which was released on the Doodley Squat label. Dahl later performed in The Angry Samoans (in 1981 after vocalist and guitarist "Metal" Mike Saunders dropped out of the band for a year) and Powertrip, and played and recorded with Cheetah Chrome ( Dead Boys) and Rikk Agnew (Adolescents). The Meatmen
The Meatmen are an American punk band headed by Tesco Vee, originally existing from 1981 to 1988, before reforming in the mid-1990s, and again in the 2000s. They were known for their outrageous stage antics and offensive lyrics. They reformed in 2008 and continue to tour and record. History The Meatmen formed in Lansing, Michigan, in 1981. Pere Ubu
Pere Ubu is an American rock group formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1975. The band had a variety of long-term and recurring band members, with singer David Thomas being the only member staying throughout the band's lifetime. They released their debut album ''The Modern Dance'' in 1978 and followed with several more LPs before disbanding in 1982. Thomas reformed the group in 1987, continuing to record and tour until his death in 2025. Describing their sound as "avant-garage," Pere Ubu's work drew inspiration from sources such as musique concrète, 60s rock, performance art, and the industrial environments of the American Midwest.
