Padmaprabha Literary Award
Padmaprabha Literary Award for contributions to the field of Malayalam literature is instituted by the Padmaprabha Foundation. A prestigious literary prize in Malayalam, the award was instituted in memory of freedom fighter and socialist Padmaprabha. It carries a purse of Rs 75,000, a gem-studded ring and plaque. Malayalam Literature
Malayalam, the lingua franca of the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry (union territory), Puduchery, is one of the six Languages of India, Classical languages of India. Malayalam literature comprises those literary texts written in Malayalam, a Dravidian languages, South-Dravidian language spoken in the Indian state of Kerala. The first travelogue in any Indian language is the Malayalam ''Varthamanappusthakam'', written by Paremmakkal Thoma Kathanar in 1785. Malayalam literature has been presented with 6 Jnanpith Award, Jnanapith awards, the second-most for any Dravidian language and the third-highest for any Indian language. Kalpatta Narayanan (born January, 1952) is an Indian novelist, short story writer, essayist, columnist, and a poet of Malayalam literature. He is known for his novel, ''Ithramathram'' and a number of poetry anthologies and other literary contributions. He is a recipient of several awards including Basheer Literary Award, Ayyappan Puraskaram and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Literary Criticism. Prabha Varma (born 2 August 1959) is a poet, lyricist, journalist and television presenter. Vijayalakshmi (born 2 August 1960) is a Malayalam–language poet from the south Indian state of Kerala. Life Vijayalakshmi was born on 2 August 1960 in Mulanthuruthy village in Ernakulam district as the daughter of Kuzhikkattil Raman Velayudhan and Kamalakshi. She completed her education from Chottanikkara Government High School, St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam and Maharajas College. Sarah Joseph (born 1946) is an Indian novelist and short story writer in Malayalam. She won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award and the Vayalar Award for her novel ''Aalahayude Penmakkal'' (Daughters of God the Father). She is a leader of the feminist movement in Kerala and is the founder of the activist organization Manushi. She joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014 and contested the 2014 parliament elections from Thrissur. Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri (18 March 1926 – 15 October 2020), popularly known as Akkitham, was an Indian poet and essayist who wrote in Malayalam. He was known for a simple and lucid style of writing, exploring themes of profound love and compassion in his works. Some of his prominent works included ''Irupatham Noottandinte Ithihasam'' (English: Epic of the 20th century), ''Balidarshanam (''English: The vision of Bali)'','' and ''Nimisha Kshetram'' (English: Holy moment)''.''
