Paddy Museum
The Paddy Museum ( ms, Muzium Padi) is a museum in Alor Setar, Kota Setar, Kedah, Malaysia. History The museum was constructed on a land belonged to the Malaysian Agricultural Development Authority at a cost of MYR24.7 million. It was inaugurated and opened on 12 October 2004 by Kedah Sultanate, Kedah Sultan Abdul Halim of Kedah, Abdul Halim. Architecture The museum is a 3-story building with a total area of 12,000 m2. It resembles bushels of harvested rice stalks decorated with rice motifs. The murals on the museum wall was done by 60 artists from North Korea. Exhibitions The museum exhibits paddy cultivation process in Malaysia and the tools and equipment for the process over the past decades. Alor Setar ( Jawi: الور ستار, Kedahan: ''Loqstaq'') is the state capital of Kedah, Malaysia. It is the second-largest city in the state after Sungai Petani and one of the most-important cities on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The Kedah Sultanate (كسلطانن قدح) is a History of Islam, Muslim dynasty located in the Malay Peninsula. It was originally an independent state, but became a British protectorate in 1909. Its monarchy was abolished after it was added to the Malayan Union but was Kedah, restored and added to the Malayan Union's successor, the Federation of Malaya.
