Pachalam
Pachalam is a region in the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. Goshree bridge road at Marine Drive side ends at Pachalam. Pachalam can also be reached by Chittoor Road. Mulavukad island is on its west, Vaduthala and Chittoor island is on its north, Elamakkara at north east, Mamagalam and Palarivattom is on its east, Kaloor on southeast. It is also located between Marine Drive, Kaloor and Edapally acting as a connecting link between the most important places in Kochi. Vaduthala
Vaduthala is a locality in the city of Kochi, India. It is between Pachalam and Chittoor on Chittoor Road. Elamakkara lie towards its east and Mulavukad island on its west. A zonal office of the Corporation of Cochin operates there. Several educational institutions such as Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Don Bosco School, SBOA Public School and Archbishop Attipetty Public School operate there. The nearest hospital is Lourdes Hospital. Backwaters Vaduthala has a line of backwaters along its length. It is one of the most peaceful places in Cochin and a source of livelihood for a number of fishermen living here. Mulavukad
Mulavukad, also known locally as Bolgatty Island, is one of the islands that forms part of the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. It is situated in the Mulavukad Grama Panchayat. Vypin island and Vallarpadam island lie on its west side and Vaduthala lie to its east. Mulavukad is connected to mainland Ernakulam & Vallarpadam by the Goshree bridges and to Container terminal road at north side to connect to Kalamassery and Aluva side. Easy connection to the CBD, Northern and Southern side of Cochin city make the Island unique among other Goshree Islands. The Bolgatty Palace is located at the southern tip of the island. It was built by the Dutch as a centre for colonial administration, and later taken over by the British. Kaloor
Kaloor is a downtown region in the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. It is from the Ernakulam North Railway Station. Kaloor Junction is also the name of a major intersection in this part of the city, intersecting the two major arteries of downtown Kochi, namely Banerji Road and the Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road. The nearest major intersections are Palarivattom to the east and Lissie Junction to the west. Kaloor is especially notable for being home to the largest stadium in the state, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The stadium plays host to cricket and football tournaments and was one of the venues of the U-17 FIFA World Cup which was held in October 2017. Kochi
Kochi (), also known as Cochin ( ) ( the official name until 1996) is a major port city on the Malabar Coast of India bordering the Laccadive Sea, which is a part of the Arabian Sea. Goshree Bridges
Goshree bridges is a system of bridges that link the mainland side of the city of Kochi to the islands lying to the north of the backwaters. It provides the vital road connectivity to the islands of Bolgatty and Vallarpadam and also links the western island of Vypin to the mainland. The bridges start from the northern end of Marine Drive between High Court and Pachalam. The bridges are constructed by the Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA), constituted by the Government of Kerala. The construction was funded by the sale proceeds of reclaimed land adjacent to the bridge. The foundation stone was laid on 29 December 2000. The first segment between Ernakulam and Bolgatty was opened on 29 December 2003. The segment between Bolgatty and Vallarpadam was opened on 10 February 2004. Marine Drive, Kochi
Marine Drive is a picturesque promenade in Kochi, India. It is built facing the backwaters, and is a popular hangout for the local populace. Despite its name, no vehicles are allowed on the walkway. Marine Drive is also an economically thriving part of the city of Kochi. With several shopping malls it is as an important centre of shopping activity in Kochi. Major fast food joints, including Marrybrown, DiMark, Coffee Bar are present along the walkway. The view of the setting and rising sun over the sea mouth, and the gentle breeze from the Vembanad Lake has made Marine Drive an important tourist destination in Kochi. Hundreds of people (both natives, and tourists) throng the walkway during the evenings. The walkway starts from the High Court Junction and continues until the Rajendra Maidan.
