Television Maldives is the public service broadcasting TV channel of the Maldives. It was formed on March 29, 1978. Munnaaru TV or ''Dome TV'' is the public service broadcasting Islamic Religious TV channel of the Maldives. History It was formed on December 29, 2016. by former President of the Maldives Abdulla Yameen and the former Islamic Minister Ahmed Ziyad. Voice of Maldives, or Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu ( dv, ދިވެހި ރާއްޖޭގެ އަޑު), is a radio station in the Republic of Maldives. ''Raajjé Radio'', owned by the state, began broadcasting in 1962, under the name 'Male Radio'. It runs two radio channels, Voice of Maldives on 1458 kHz AM with a live internet stream (news and information) and Raajje FM (entertainment). Voice of Maldives is the archipelago's official radio service, operating under the Ministry of Information Arts, and Culture. With the rise of private radio clubs in India in 1962, Voice of Maldives emerged as a government organization on 11 September 1966. Malé
Malé (, ; dv, މާލެ) is the capital and most populous city of the Maldives. With a population of 252,768 and an area of , it is also one of the most densely populated cities in the world. The city is geographically located at the southern edge of North Malé Atoll ( Kaafu Atoll). Administratively, the city consists of a central island, an airport island, and four other islands governed by the Malé City Council. Maldivian, also known by its endonym Dhivehi or Divehi ( ; '' dv, links=no, ދިވެހި'', ), is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the South Asian island country of Maldives and on Minicoy Island, Lakshadweep, union territory of India. The Maldivian language has notable dialects. The standard dialect is that of the capital city, Malé. The greatest dialectal variation is from the southern atolls Huvadu, Addu and Fuvahmulah of Maldives. Each of those atolls has its own dialect closely related to each other but very different from the northern atolls. The southern atoll dialects are so distinct that those only speaking northern dialects cannot understand them. World Press Freedom Day
