Provincial Assembly Of Punjab
The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab is a unicameral legislature of elected representatives of the Pakistani province of Punjab, which is located in Lahore, the provincial capital. It was established under Article 106 of the Constitution of Pakistan, having a total of 371 seats, with 297 general seats, 66 seats reserved for women and 8 reserved for non-Muslims. After it was completed in 1935, the Assembly Chamber housed the Assembly for the Punjab province. Sheikhupura
Sheikhupura ( pa, ; ur, ) also known as Qila Sheikhupura, is a city in the Pakistani province of Punjab. Founded by the Mughal Emperor Jehangir in 1607, Sheikhupura is the 16th largest city of Pakistan by population and is the headquarters of Sheikhupura District. The city is an industrial center, and satellite town, located about 38 km northwest of Lahore. It is also connected to District Kasur. The old name of Sheikhupura was “Virkgarh” due to large number of Virk Jats settled in the area. The Virks are still strong in this area both politically and economically. There are around 132 villages in this area which belong to the Virks. Etymology The region around Sheikhupura was previous known as ''Virk Garh, or'' "''Virk'' Fort", in reference to the Jat tribe that inhabited the area. Sheikhupura District ( pa, ; ur, ), is a district located in Lahore Division of Punjab Province, Pakistan. Sheikhupura is the headquarters of Sheikhupura district. According to the 1998 census of Pakistan, the district had a population of 3,321,029 of which 25.45% were urban. In 2005 one of its subdivisions was split off to form the new Nankana Sahib District. Before the Partition of Punjab(1947), there were more than 150 villages of Virk Jatts in the district of Sheikhupura. The predominant language of the district is Punjabi, which according to the 1998 census results for the tehsils of Sheikhupura, Ferozewala and Safdarabad, is the first language of % of the population, while Urdu is the first language of %. According to the 2017 Census of Pakistan, most populous cities of the district are Sheikhupura, Muridke, Kot Abdul Malik and Ferozewala.
