PLINIVS
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mari Yamazaki and Miki Tori. The series is a biography of Pliny the Elder. It was initially serialized in Shinchosha's ''Shinchō 45'' magazine from December 2013 to September 2018. After the final issue of ''Shinchō 45'' was published, it was later transferred to the ''Shinchō'' magazine, where it continued from December 2018 to February 2023. The series won the 28th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2024. Pliny The Elder
Gaius Plinius Secundus (AD 23/24 79), known in English as Pliny the Elder ( ), was a Roman Empire, Roman author, Natural history, naturalist, and naval and army commander of the early Roman Empire, and a friend of the Roman emperor, emperor Vespasian. He wrote the encyclopedic (''Natural History''), a comprehensive thirty-seven-volume work covering a vast array of topics on human knowledge and the natural world, which became an editorial model for encyclopedias. Miki Tori
, also known as Micky Bird or Mickey Bird, is a Japanese manga artist, character designer, essayist, and screenplay writer. Tori has won multiple awards for his work, including two Seiun Awards (in 1994 for ''Dai-Hon'ya'', and in 1998 for ''SF Taishō'') and one Bungeishunjū Manga Award (in 1995 for ''Tōku e Ikitai''). His pen name was created by mixing up the pronunciation of the kanji making up his real name. He worked as a writer on '' WXIII: Patlabor the Movie 3''.
