Liu Yang (astronaut)
Liu Yang (; born October 6, 1978) is a Chinese military transport pilot and taikonaut. On June 16, 2012, Yang became the first Chinese woman in space, as a crew member of Shenzhou 9. Biography Liu Yang was born in Zhengzhou, Henan province in 1978, into a worker's family of Linzhou, Anyang origin. Her father Liu Shilin () was an assistant engineer in the technical department of Zhengzhou First Food Machinery Factory, and her mother Niu Xiyun () was a worker in Zhengzhou Light Automobile Manufacturing Factory. She is the only child in her family. As a child, Liu aspired to become a lawyer or a bus conductor. Liu Yang joined the PLA Air Force in 1997 and qualified as a pilot before becoming the deputy head of a flight unit, holding the PLAAF rank of major. Academic Institutions Of The Armed Forces Of China
The academic institutions of the armed forces of China include the educational institutions of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the People's Armed Police (PAP). Throughout the history of the People's Republic of China, there have been many dramatic reforms to the military education system, closing, merging, reducing and reassigning institutions. The 2017 reforms saw another massive change, as they reduced the number of PLA academic institutions from 67 to 37. These institutions carry out training for all branches and arms of the PLA and PAP, from officer training to logistics, to technology, to NCO training. The changes in the structure of the system have not stopped. In January 2018, the Coast Guard Academy (海警学院) joined the PAP institution system. The military program in civilian universities (equivalent to ROTC programs) is in flux and it is not clear what shape it will take in the near future, as of 2023. Fang Ziyi (; 21 January 1917 – 17 March 2015) was a major general in the People's Liberation Army Air Force of China. He served as Deputy Commander of the Air Force of Beijing Military Region and Deputy Commander of the Air Force of Guangzhou Military Region, and adviser of PLA Air Force Aviation University. Tang Hongbo
Senior Colonel Tang Hongbo (; born October 1975) is a Chinese fighter pilot and People's Liberation Army Astronaut Corps (PLAAC) taikonaut. He flew on his first spaceflight to the Tiangong space station as a part of the Shenzhou 12 mission, the first to visit the station. He was the commander of the Shenzhou 17 mission, making him the first taikonaut to visit Tiangong twice. Yu Xu (; March 1986 – November 12, 2016) was a Chinese female fighter pilot who served as a flight squadron leader in the August 1st aerobatic team of the People's Liberation Army Air Force. Early life Yu was born in Chengdu, the capital of the southwestern Chinese province Sichuan. Education Yu entered the military as a student at the PLA Air Force Aviation University in 2005, and graduated in 2009. Wang Yaping (; born January 1980) is a Chinese military transport pilot and taikonaut. Wang was the second female taikonaut selected to the People's Liberation Army Astronaut Corps, the second Chinese woman in space, and the first Chinese woman to perform a spacewalk. In April 2022, she set a new record for longest stay in space by a female Chinese astronaut with a cumulative 197 days in space. Early life Wang was born in the prefecture of Yantai, in Shandong province. Her mother and father are farmers, and she was reported to have two sisters.
