Plochodrážní klub v AČR Plzeň is a Czech motorcycle speedway team based in Plzeň, Czech Republic. The team race at the Plzeň speedway track. History The team competed in the inaugural Czechoslovak Team Speedway Championship during 1956, finishing third in the league. At the time they carried the name KAMK Plzeň but in 1959 they were known as KV Zvazarmu Plzeň, following their connection with Svazarm. When the league was reformed in 1967 following a four-year break, the team returned as ČSAD (Czechoslovak State Automobile Transportation) Plzeň from 1983 to the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The team continued as ČSAD Plzeň, competing in the Czech Republic Team Speedway Championship until 1994, when they received dual sponsorship from Cetrans and Marco Polo. Plzeň Speedway Track
Plzeň speedway track is a motorcycle speedway track in Plzeň, Czech Republic. It is located on the Dobřanská road, off the Univerzitní road. The speedway club PK Plzeň is based at the track. History The track was constructed during the beginning of 1959 and was completed in 1960. The opening fixture was a match between Plzeň and RH Prague on 17 July 1960. Czech Republic Team Speedway Championship
The Czech Republic Speedway Team Championships is an annual motorcycle speedway event held each year and organised by the Autoklub České republiky to determine the champions of the Czech Republic. From 1956 until 1991 the competition was for teams in Czechoslovakia, although due to the lack of clubs in Slovakia, it was dominated by Czech teams. The competition is today called the Extraliga for the top division and the 1.Liga for the division below. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Plzeň (), also known in English and German as Pilsen (), is a city in the Czech Republic. Svazarm
Svazarm or Union for Cooperation with the Army (Czech: Svaz pro spolupráci s armádou / Svazarm, Slovak: Zväz pre spoluprácu s armádou / Zväzarm) was, in Communist Czechoslovakia, the largest "paramilitary" organisation, although many of the activities that Svazarm provided for its members were more reminiscent of a Boy Scout movement than of a regimented paramilitary group. Established in 1951, the Svazarm was an almost exact copy of the Soviet Union's DOSAAF, however, with massively scaled down maritime activities as Czechoslovakia was landlocked. Automotoklub Markéta Praha is a Czech motorcycle speedway team based in Prague, Czech Republic. The team race at the Markéta Stadium. History Following the end of World War II, the Czechoslovak military began forming sports teams and regional and national competitions. In 1953, a law (following the Soviet model) determined that all clubs should be voluntary sports societies, with athletes being allocated to clubs according to their civic occupation.
