PFTS Index
PFTS index is a benchmark index of PFTS Ukraine Stock Exchange, Ukraine's leading bourse. Beside PFTS Index, there are also the UX Index of the Ukrainian Exchange and the Ukrainian Average Index 50 (UAI-50) being composed by analysts of internet-publishefundmarket.ua PFTS Index was effectively created on October 1, 1997 as a capitalization-weighted index to track the percentage change of the basket of stocks from base period – i.e., from October, 1997. As of today it remains the only index of Ukrainian stocks to be recognized and closely tracked by the international financial community. Many companies included in PFTS Index specialize in raw materials extraction and processing, therefore heavily exposing the Index to the fluctuations of world commodities' prices. Industrial Union of Donbas (ISD; uk, Індустріальний союз Донбасу, translit=Industrialnyi soiuz Donbasu) is one of the biggest corporations in Ukraine. It is a horizontally integrated holding company that owns or directs stocks of 40 industrial enterprises in the East Ukraine, Hungary, and Poland. The company was created in 1995 and before the appearance of SCM Holdings in 2000 was a major steel rolling corporation in the East Ukraine. In the context of stock markets, the public float or free float represents the portion of shares of a corporation that are in the hands of public investors as opposed to locked-in shares held by promoters, company officers, controlling-interest investors, or governments. This number is sometimes seen as a better way of calculating market capitalization, because it provides a more accurate reflection (than entire market capitalization) of what public investors consider the company to be worth. Zakhidenergo ( uk, «Західенерго») is a major electric and thermal energy producing companies in western Ukraine. The electricity generated by the company is supplied to Ukrainian consumers and exported to European countries. Ukrnafta is a Ukrainian oil and natural gas extracting company, the largest producer of oil and gas in the country. Ukrnafta is also an operator of a gas filling station network in Ukraine nationwide. In 2006, the company conducted some 91% of oil, 27% of natural-gas condensate and 17% of gas extraction in the country. As of 2020, the company produced around 1.5 million tonnes of oil, 1.13 billion m3 of natural gas and 117 thousands tonnes of LPG. The Motor Sich Joint Stock Company ( uk, АТ «Мотор Січ») is a Ukrainian aircraft engine manufacturer headquartered in Zaporizhzhia. The company manufactures engines for airplanes and helicopters, and also industrial marine gas turbines and installations.
