The ''PFL 5'' mixed martial arts event for the 2019 season of the Professional Fighters League was held on July 25, 2019, at the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This was the fifth regular season event of 2019 and include fights in the featherweight and lightweight divisions. Background Several bouts were changed due to three fighters - lightweights Ramsey Nijem and Carlao Silva and featherweight Gadzhi Rabadanov - missing their weight marks for their respective bouts with all three removed from the card. As a result, defending lightweight champion Natan Schulte, Nijem's original opponent, instead faced Jesse Ronson, Silva's original opponent. Professional Fighters League
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is an American mixed martial arts league founded by venture capitalist Donn Davis in 2017 and launched in 2018, following the acquisition and restructuring of the former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) promotion in 2017 by MMAX Investment Partners. It is the first major MMA organization in which individual athletes compete in a regular season, post-season and championship, rather than on a year-round basis. The PFL currently puts on fights across six weight-divisions: Featherweight (MMA), featherweight, women's lightweight, Lightweight (MMA), lightweight, Welterweight (MMA), welterweight, Light heavyweight (MMA), light heavyweight and Heavyweight (MMA), heavyweight. Lance Palmer
Lance Palmer (born February 7, 1987) is an American professional mixed martial artist and former collegiate wrestler, who currently competes in the featherweight division. A professional since 2011, he is most notable for competing in Professional Fighters League (PFL), where he was the 2018 and 2019 tournament champion. As a folkstyle wrestler, he was a four-time NCAA Division I All-American and four-time OHSAA state champion. Movlid Khaybulaev (born October 16, 1990) is a Russian mixed martial artist who competes in the Featherweight division of the Professional Fighters League (PFL). A professional competitor since 2011, he has competed also in Fight Nights Global, and ONE Championship.
