The ''PFL 3'' mixed martial arts event for the 2018 season of the Professional Fighters League was held on July 5, 2018, at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C. It was the third regular season event of 2018 and included only fights in the welterweight and middleweight divisions. Results Standings after event The point system consists of outcome based scoring and bonuses for an early win. Under the outcome based scoring system, the winner of a fight receives 3 points and the loser receives 0 points. If the fight ends in a draw, both fighters will receive 1 point. The bonus for winning a fight in the first, second, or third round is 3 points, 2 points, and 1 point respectively. For example, if a fighter wins a fight in the first round, then the fighter will receive 6 total points. The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is an American mixed martial arts league founded by venture capitalist Donn Davis in 2017 and launched in 2018, following the acquisition and restructuring of the former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) promotion in 2017 by MMAX Investment Partners. It is the first major MMA organization in which individual athletes compete in a regular season, post-season and championship, rather than on a year-round basis. The PFL currently puts on fights across six weight-divisions: Featherweight (MMA), featherweight, women's lightweight, Lightweight (MMA), lightweight, Welterweight (MMA), welterweight, Light heavyweight (MMA), light heavyweight and Heavyweight (MMA), heavyweight. Magomed Magomedkerimov (; born 1 October 1990) is a Russian professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Welterweight division of Professional Fighters League (PFL). Early life Magomed was born in the small Dagestani village of Agvali, with a population of just over 2,000. While in school, he trained in pankration, hand-to-hand combat, and Muay Thai, sports popular in the region. By graduation, he was determined to pursue a career in sports. At 17, he moved to Makhachkala and entered the Sports and Coaching Faculty at the Dagestan State Pedagogical University (DGPU). The following year, he began competing in various tournaments, including world championships. With a solid foundation in pankration and striking disciplines, Magomedkerimov launched his professional MMA career in 2008. Bojan Veličković (; born December 18, 1988) is a Serbian retired mixed martial artist and sambist. He was competing in the Welterweight division. A professional competitor since 2010, he has competed for the UFC, Professional Fighters League, and RFA, where he was the Welterweight Champion. Villefort has fought for the UFC, WEC, IFL, World Series of Fighting, and Professional Fighters League fighting in their Middleweight division. Louis Taylor (born May 12, 1979) is an American former mixed martial artist who most recently competed in the welterweight division of the Professional Fighters League. A professional competitor from 2007 to 2018, Taylor also formerly competed for Strikeforce and Bellator. He was the first PFL Middleweight Tournament champion. Sadibou Sy (born November 27, 1986) is a Swedish mixed martial artist who competes in the Light Heavyweight division of the Professional Fighters League. Background Sadibou Sy, a mixed martial artist with Senegalese roots, grew up in a large family with six siblings in Sweden. He initially played football before transitioning to martial arts when he was in his teens. Sy began training at Wasa Martial Arts Center, focusing on kickboxing and later competed in Thai boxing.
