PFL 1 (2018)
The ''PFL 1'' mixed martial arts event for the 2018 season of the Professional Fighters League was held on June 7, 2018, at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. This was the first regular season event of the tournament and included fights only in the featherweight and heavyweight divisions. Background Mike Kyle was expected to face Shawn Jordan at this event, however Kyle was removed from the bout for undisclosed reasons and replaced by Philipe Lins. On weigh in day, the fight suffered another set back as Jordan missed the 265-pound weight limit by over nine pounds, and the bout was scratched from the card all together. As a result, Philipe Lins was awarded 3 points via. walkover victory. Professional Fighters League
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is an American mixed martial arts league founded by venture capitalist Donn Davis in 2017 and launched in 2018, following the acquisition and restructuring of the former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) promotion in 2017 by MMAX Investment Partners. It is the first major MMA organization in which individual athletes compete in a regular season, post-season and championship, rather than on a year-round basis. Nazareno Malegarie
Nazareno Malegarie (born May 16, 1986) is an Argentine mixed martial artist, and a two-time BJJ World Champion currently competing in the Featherweight division of the Professional Fighters League. A professional MMA competitor since 2007, he has also competed for the UFC, Bellator and Pancrase. Background Malegarie grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he began learning Judo when he was only four-years-old and later Tae kwon do at the age of seven.
