PEI Tankard
The PEI Men's Curling Championship, formerly the PEI Tankard, is the provincial championship for men's curling in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island . The tournament is run by Curl PEI, the provincial curling association. The winner represents Team Prince Edward Island at The Brier. Prince Edward Island has had a team in the Brier since 1936. 2022 Tim Hortons Brier
The 2022 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from March 4 to 13 at the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta. In the final, the defending Olympic bronze medallist Brad Gushue Wild Card #1 team, which also include Mark Nichols (curler), Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker (curler), Geoff Walker from Newfoundland and Labrador defeated Alberta, skipped by Kevin Koe. It was Gushue's fourth career Brier title, and the team did it shorthanded, as Nichols missed the playoffs due to testing positive for COVID-19. According to Curling Canada, it was the first time a three-player team won a Brier final. Gushue's four Brier wins ties the record with Ernie Richardson (curler), Ernie Richardson, Randy Ferbey, Kevin Martin (curler), Kevin Martin and Koe for most Brier championships as a skip, and his rink tied the "Ferbey Four" for most Brier championships as a foursome with four titles. Anson Carmody
Anson James Carmody (born November 29, 1989) is a Canadian curler, from Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Until the 2016–2017 season, he threw third stones for the Eddie MacKenzie rink. Career As a junior, Carmody played second on the Brett Gallant rink that won five straight provincial junior titles from 2006 to 2010. The team would win the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and would represent Canada at the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships. At the 2009 World Juniors, the team won a silver medal, losing to Denmark's Rasmus Stjerne in the final. The team also won a bronze medal at the 2007 Canada Winter Games. After juniors, Carmody, Gallant, and Brett's father Peter Gallant formed a team, with Carmody still throwing second stones, and Peter skipping, and Jeff Wilson at lead. Cornwall Curling Club
The Cornwall Curling Club is a curling club in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Canada. History The Cornwall Village Council decided in 1979 to build a curling rink in the community, and construction began in 1981. The club officially opened in January 1982. Despite a number of hiccups in its first season, it did not take long for the club to produce a provincial champion. Nancy Coffin, Sharon Cole, Pam Sherren, and Heather Worth won the 1983 Prince Edward Island Junior Women's curling championship. Mark O'Rourke
Mark William O'Rourke (born July 7, 1962, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian curler., ''canoe.ca'', March 5, 2009. In 1989, playing second for Robert Campbell, O'Rourke won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. O'Rourke has been to the Brier on 13 occasions (1991, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2020). He played second for Campbell in all of the Briers until 2006 except 1996 (alternate for Peter MacDonald) and 2001 (second for MacDonald). In 2007 and 2008 he was second for Peter Gallant, in 2009 he played lead for Rod MacDonald and in 2010 was his second. In 2020, O'Rourke joined the Bryan Cochrane rink as lead, as the only resident Islander. Morgan Currie (born May 20, 1964 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. In 1997, Currie won the Ontario Mixed Curling Championship throwing second on a team skipped by Jim Hunker. The team finished with a 2–9 record at the 1997 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. Currie joined the Bryan Cochrane senior men's team for the 2017–18 curling season at second. The team won the 2018 Ontario Senior Men's Curling Championship and represented Ontario at the 2018 Canadian Senior Curling Championships. Ian MacAulay (born March 25, 1964, in Souris, Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian curler and ice technician from Ottawa, Ontario. He played second for team Ontario at the 2003 Nokia Brier. Earlier in his career, MacAulay won the 1993 Fairfield Marriott Challenge and the 1993 Dominion Regalia Silver Tankard. He would later join the Bryan Cochrane rink at second. The team won the 2003 Ontario Nokia Cup, the provincial men's championship. This earned the team the right to play in the 2003 Nokia Brier, where they finished with a 5–6 record. Bryan Cochrane
Bryan Cochrane (born October 9, 1957 in Winchester, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Russell, Ontario. Cochrane is most notable for winning the 2019 World Senior Curling Championships for Canada, and skipping team Ontario at the 2003 Nokia Brier and later team PEI at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier. Curling career After repeatedly making it to provincial championships, and failing to win, finally Cochrane in 2003 became only the fourth Ottawa-based team to play in the Brier. Cochrane, playing out of the RCMP Curling Club at the time, and his team of Bill Gamble, Ian MacAulay and John Steski defeated Peter Corner in the provincial final. The 2020 PEI Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship for Prince Edward Island, was held from January 8 to 12 at the Montague Curling Rink in Montague, Prince Edward Island. The winning Bryan Cochrane rink represented Prince Edward Island at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier in Kingston, Ontario and finished with a 2–5 record. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 Prince Edward Island Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's championship. The Cochrane rink went undefeated through the whole tournament, not losing a game as they won all three qualifying events.
