PCL Most Valuable Player Award
The Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) is an annual award given to the best player in Minor League Baseball's Pacific Coast League based on their regular-season performance as voted on by league managers. From 1932 to 1947, the award was voted upon by writers from ''The Sporting News''. Broadcasters, Minor League Baseball executives, and members of the media have previously voted as well. Though the league was established in 1903, the award was not created until 1927. No MVP was selected from 1928 to 1931. In 1948, Charlie Graham donated a plaque, which was named in his honor, to be awarded annually to the league's MVP. The award was suspended for six seasons in the 1970s (1973, 1975–1979). After the cancellation of the 2020 season, the league was known as the Triple-A West in 2021 before reverting to the Pacific Coast League name in 2022. Catcher
Catcher is a position in baseball and softball. When a batter takes their turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the (home) umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher. In addition to this primary duty, the catcher is also called upon to master many other skills in order to field the position well. The role of the catcher is similar to that of the wicket-keeper in cricket. Positioned behind home plate and facing toward the outfield, the catcher can see the whole field, and is therefore in the best position to direct and lead the other players in a defensive play. Sandy Alomar Jr
Santos Alomar Velázquez (, ; born June 18, 1966), known as Sandy Alomar Jr., is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball player, coach, and manager. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher between 1988 and 2007, most notably as a member of the Cleveland Indians where he was a six-time All-Star player and won two American League pennants. Alomar was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame in 2009. He also played for the San Diego Padres, Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the New York Mets. Michael Busch (baseball)
Michael James Busch (born November 9, 1997) is an American professional baseball infielder for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played college baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels and made his MLB debut in 2023 with the Dodgers. Amateur career Busch attended Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, where he played football, hockey and baseball. He was ranked as the fourth-best player in the state of Minnesota by Perfect Game. During his senior baseball season, Busch was an All-State selection. Tyler Lawrence France (born July 13, 1994) is an American professional baseball first baseman for the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, and Cincinnati Reds. France was an Major League Baseball All-Star Game, All-Star in 2022.
