This is a list of member stations of the PBS, Public Broadcasting Service, a television network, network of non-commercial educational television stations in the United States. The list is arranged alphabetically by state and based on the station's city of license and followed in parentheses by the designated market area when different from the city of license. There are links to and articles on each of the stations, describing their local programming and technical information, such as broadcast frequencies. The station's advertised channel number follows the call letters. In most cases, this is their virtual channel number. Television Network
A television broadcaster or television network is a telecommunications network for the distribution of television show, television content, where a central operation provides programming to many television stations, pay television providers or, in the United States, Multichannel television in the United States, multichannel video programming distributors. Until the mid-1980s, broadcast programming on television in most countries of the world was dominated by a small number of broadcast network, terrestrial networks. Louisville, Alabama
Louisville (; ; formerly Lewisville and still pronounced as such) is a town in Barbour County, Alabama, United States. Founded in 1817 in former Creek territory, it holds the distinctive honor of having served as county seat for two different Alabama counties - Pike County (1821) and later Barbour County (1832-1834). Known historically as "Little Scotland" due to its Scotch-Irish settlers. The population was 395 as of the 2020 census. Geography Louisville is southwest of Clayton, the county seat, and northeast of Clio. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.1 km), all land. KTVA
KTVA (channel 11) is a television station in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. It is a satellite of PBS member station KAKM (channel 7) which is owned by Alaska Public Media. KTVA's transmitter is located in Spenard—covering the Anchorage bowl and much of the adjacent Matanuska-Susitna Valley. KTVA was a commercial station affiliated with CBS from its sign-on in December 1953. That relationship ended on July 31, 2020, when the CBS affiliation in Anchorage was moved to KYES-TV (channel 5, now KAUU) as that station's parent company, Gray Television, acquired KTVA's non-license assets. KTVA signed off on September 3, 2020. It resumed broadcasting on September 2, 2021, to retain its license. Bethel, Alaska
Bethel () is a city in the U.S. state of Alaska, located on the Kuskokwim River approximately from where the river flows into Kuskokwim Bay. It is the largest community in western Alaska and in the Unorganized Borough and the List of cities in Alaska, eighth-largest in the state. Bethel has a population of 6,325 as of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, up from 6,080 in 2010. KAKM
KAKM (channel 7) is a PBS member television station in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. Owned by Alaska Public Media, it is sister to NPR member KSKA (91.1 FM). The two stations share studios at the Elmo Sackett Broadcast Center on the campus of Alaska Pacific University; KAKM's transmitter is located near Knik, Alaska. KAKM was the only PBS station in Alaska that was not part of AlaskaOne during its existence. The call letters were chosen to represent the three major geographic areas served by the station: Anchorage, Kenai, and Matanuska. KAKM operates a full-time satellite station, KTOO-TV (channel 3), licensed to the capital city of Juneau. This station is owned by Capital Community Broadcasting as a sister to non-commercial FM radio stations KTOO, KNLL, and KRNN, but is operated by Alaska Public Media. Alaska Public Media is an American non-profit organization in Alaska, with member television and radio stations that are part of PBS, NPR and other public broadcasting networks. Formerly known as Alaska Public Telecommunications, Inc., it relies upon several funding sources, including member donations, state and federal funding, and grants from private foundations, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), and other organizations. Alaska Public Media operates KAKM, a television station affiliated with PBS, along with public radio station KSKA (91.1 FM). Mount Cheaha
Cheaha Mountain , often called Mount Cheaha, is the highest natural point in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is located a few miles northwest of the town of Delta in Cheaha State Park, which offers a lodge, a restaurant, and other amenities. The nearest higher peak is Brushy Top in Gilmer County, Georgia, 106.72 miles (171.75 km) away. Description The highest point is marked with a USGS benchmark in front of Bunker Tower, a stone Civilian Conservation Corps building with an observation deck on top. The CCC also constructed a road to Cheaha, but the road has been closed for years. The old road is known as CC Road and contains interesting ruins. Near the peak is Bald Rock, which was recently improved with a wheelchair-accessible wooden walkway that provides an impressive overlook of the surrounding region.
