PBM Hospital
Prince Bijay Singh Memorial Hospital ( PBM Hospital), is the major public hospital of Bikaner, under the Government of Rajasthan. The hospital was founded by Maharaja Ganga Singh in 1935, after the name of his son Bijay Singh. It is the first hospital in northern india to have a cobalt therapy unit. The hospital also provides practical training to the students of the Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner. This hospital also have biggest medicine wing in the Rajasthan. Campus CM Mundhra Medicine Wing The largest medicine wing in the state, located within the PBM Hospital campus and is the first government hospital designed to resemble a five-star hotel. Bikaner
Bikaner () is a city in the northwest of the States and territories of India, state of Rajasthan, India. It is located northwest of the state capital, Jaipur. It is the administrative headquarters of Bikaner District and Bikaner division. Formerly the capital of the princely Bikaner State, the city was founded by Rao Bika, a Rajput Tribal chief, chief of the Rathore dynasty in 1488 CE and from its small origins it has developed into the fourth largest city in Rajasthan. Sarder Patel Medical College is a government medical college located in Bikaner (Rajasthan), India. Established in 1959, it is one of six government-run medical colleges in the western state of Rajasthan, and the second to be established in the state. It is affiliated with RUHS and provides education leading to the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree (recognized by NMC) and MS/MD/DM degrees. Ganga Singh
General Maharaja Sir Ganga Singh (13 October 1880 – 2 February 1943) was the ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Bikaner (in present-day Rajasthan, India) from 1888 to 1943. As a member of the Imperial War Cabinet, he was present in the Palace of Versailles during signing of the Treaty of Versailles, formally ending the First World War. Early life Ganga Singh was born on the auspicious day of Vijay Dashmi on 13 October 1880 to Maharaj Shri Lal Singh Sahib and his wife Maji Shri Chandravatiji Sahiba. Cobalt Therapy
Cobalt therapy is the medical use of gamma rays from the radioisotope cobalt-60 to treat conditions such as cancer. Beginning in the 1950s, cobalt-60 was widely used in external beam radiotherapy (teletherapy) machines, which produced a beam of gamma rays which was directed into the patient's body to kill tumor tissue.
