P. J. McGowan
P. J. McGowan (born 1951/52) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and administrator. He succeeded Brian McEniff as Donegal county football team, Donegal manager in 1994 and lasted until 1997, thus preceding Declan Bonner's first spell in charge. He also managed Fermanagh county football team, Fermanagh. Career McGowan is from Ballybofey. His club is CLG Seán Mac Cumhaills, Seán Mac Cumhaills. He first became involved in football when he was ten years of age. McGowan managed Donegal to the 1987 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship. In the early 1990s, he spent a short time as senior manager of Fermanagh county football team, Fermanagh. Gaelic football (; short name '')'', commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA, or football, is an Irish team sport. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or palming the ball into the other team's Goal (sport), goal (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goal and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the ball up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Aodh Ruadh CLG
Aodh Ruadh CLG is a GAA club based in the town of Ballyshannon in County Donegal. Historically one of their county's most successful GAA clubs, it has won 12 Donegal Senior Football Championship titles, and currently competes in Division 2 of the league and the Senior Championship. The club colours are green and white and it plays its home games at Fr Tierney Park. The club has a local rivalry with Réalt na Mara. Brian Roper (Gaelic Footballer)
Brian Roper (born 1974/5) is an American Gaelic footballer who has lived in Ireland most of his life, and who played for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. Roper preferred to play centre-forward, but tended to play at wing-forward for Donegal. Brian McEniff described him as one of the best forwards in the country for the best part of a decade and a half. He won an Ulster Under-21 Football Championship. James Ruane is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for the Donegal county team. Ruane won an Ulster Under-21 Football Championship with Donegal in 1995. P. J. McGowan was the manager to introduce Ruane to the Donegal senior team.
