P.E.E.
P.E.E., occasionally short for Potentially Egregious Error and also known as Pee, was a math rock band from San Francisco, California. Active from 1993 to 1999, they released two albums, ''Now, More Charm and More Tender'' in 1996 and ''The Roaring Mechanism'' in 1999. The band disbanded after guitarist/vocalist Jim Stanley and guitarist/co-vocalist Kelly Green, who were dating during the band's duration, broke up. History In 1993, Jim Stanley and Kelly Green, both guitarists and vocalists, established a band. Prior to their first performance, the duo realized that the group did not have a name. They ultimately decided on the name "Pee" spontaneously. The two later recruited Andee Connors of J Church and A Minor Forest to play drums. Noise Pop Festival
Noise Pop Festival is an annual week-long music and arts festival that takes place throughout the San Francisco Bay Area produced by Noise Pop. From 1993 to 2020, and then resuming in 2022, Noise Pop Festival has provided exposure to some emerging artists, many of which have gone on to widespread acclaim, including The White Stripes, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, The Flaming Lips, The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Bright Eyes and Yoko Ono. History Noise Pop Festival began in 1993 as a "5 bands for 5 dollars show" at the Kennel Club (later renamed the Independent). Tickets were $5 and although it was only one day, it was called the S.F. Noise Pop Festival. It has expanded to a nine-day festival across nearly every major and independent venue in San Francisco. This festival went on hiatus in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Absolutely Kosher Records
Absolutely Kosher Records is an independent California-based record label founded in 1998 in San Francisco by Cory Brown. The label moved to Berkeley in 2002 and then to Emeryville in October 2006 when it partnered with Misra Records for 3 years before separating. Absolutely Kosher has been listed on the RIAA website since 2005 as a distributed label of a reporting member (Fontana, the label's distributor). However, the label is not itself a member, and neither pay dues nor corresponds with the RIAA. Absolutely Kosher is a member in good standing with A2IM. On September 20, 2011, a statement from Cory Brown was placed on the label's website informing people that the label would cease to release any more records for the foreseeable future due to financial difficulties. Fuck (band)
Fuck is an American indie rock band, formed in Oakland, California in 1993. It consists of Timothy Prudhomme, Geoff Soule, Kyle Statham and Theodore Ellison. They have recorded for a number of labels including Matador Records and Homesleep Records of Italy. History Fuck was formed in Oakland, California in 1993. The members met while stuck in a police holding cell over the weekend, and wrote a few songs while in jail. They released a self-titled cassette called ''Fuck'', and a single, ''MonkeyBeautyShotgun'' on their own imprint, Rhesus Records, in 1994. Velocity Girl was an American indie rock band formed in 1989 in College Park, Maryland, and active in the Washington, D.C., area. The band released three albums before splitting up in 1996. The band reunited for a one-off concert in 2002 and for a few concerts in 2023 and 2024. Midwest emo (or Midwestern emo) is a subgenre and scene of emo music that emerged in the Midwestern United States during the 1990s. Employing unconventional vocal stylings, distinct guitar riffs and arpeggiated melodies, Midwest emo bands shifted away from the genre's hardcore punk roots and drew on indie rock and math rock approaches.
