Oxford City Football Club is a semi-professional association football club based in Marston, Oxford, England. They compete in the National League North, the sixth tier of the English football league system. They play their home matches at Marsh Lane. History The club played their first recorded match on 15 March 1884 at Thame Grammar School, losing 4–2. Fixtures were irregular for over a decade, with none at all played between 1886 and 1893, but the club was reorganized and reconstituted in 1897 and soon became the leading club in Oxfordshire, winning the FA Amateur Cup in 1906, before joining the Isthmian League the following year. In the latter half of the 20th century, the club went into decline and soon fell behind Headington United after that club turned professional in 1949. Ross Aden Jenkins (born 9 November 1990) is an English former professional association football, footballer who played as a Midfielder#Central, central midfielder and is currently manager of Oxford City F.C., Oxford City. Career Jenkins was born in Watford and began a two-year academy scholarship with Watford F.C., his hometown club in summer 2007. Michael Paul Ford (born 9 February 1966) is an English football manager and former professional player. His father, Tony Ford, is also a former professional footballer. Playing career Ford began his career at Leicester City where he became a full-time professional at the age of 18. He was released by the club without making an appearance and moved to non-league side Devizes Town but he was signed a few months later by Cardiff City and quickly made his debut in a 1–1 draw with Leeds United. A mainstay in the side, Ford played in numerous positions for Cardiff in defence and midfield and helped them to promotion in his final year at the club. The Spartan South Midlands Football League is an English football league covering Hertfordshire, northwest Greater London, central Buckinghamshire and southern Bedfordshire. Manor Ground (Oxford)
The Manor Ground was a football stadium in Oxford, England, the home of Oxford United (previously known as Headington United) between 1925 and 2001. It hosted United's record crowd of 22,750 against Preston North End in an FA Cup 6th Round match on 29 February 1964. The main seating stand was the Beech Road stand (on the west), the 'home' terracing was the London Road stand (south), the 'away' terracing was Cuckoo Lane (north) and on the fourth side was the Osler Road stand (east). In 1966, with the demolition of Sandfield Cottage, a new entrance to the ground was created onto London Road. With the advent of the 1990s and the Taylor Report, the Manor Ground's terracing was rapidly becoming antiquated, and it gained a reputation amongst fans as one of the more dilapidated stadiums in English professional football.
