Overmars (band)
''Overmars'' is a French post-metal band, formed in 2001 in Lyon. Consisting of Xavier Théret (vocals), Antoine (guitar), Pierrick (guitar), Marion (bass), Ben (drums) and Bruno (keyboards), the band released its debut album, ''Affliction, Endocrine... Vertigo'' in 2005. Overmars released its follow-up, ''Born Again'' in 2007. The following year saw the release of another split EP with the band Icos and an EP entitled ''Büccolision'' with Kill the Thrill. Compared to the band Swans, Overmars is noted for its "oppressive, droning, oftentimes sludgy interpretation of the post-metal genre. The band's debut album has been labeled as alternative metal with elements of doom metal, industrial, gothic rock, death metal and black metal. Doom metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that typically uses slower tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much "thicker" or "heavier" sound than other heavy metal genres.K. Black metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Gothic Rock
Gothic rock (also called goth rock or simply goth) is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The first post-punk bands which shifted toward dark music with gothic overtones include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and the Cure. The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from post-punk. Industrial music is a genre of music that draws on harsh, mechanical, transgressive or provocative sounds and themes.
