Outstanding Eagle Scout Award
The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) is a distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). It is awarded to an Eagle Scout by the National Eagle Scout Association for distinguished service to their profession and community upon the recommendation of their local BSA council NESA committee, Scout executive and council president. The number of NOESA medals a council may present each calendar year is based upon the number of Eagle Scouts certified by the national office during the previous calendar year. Each council may present two awards if there were between one and 100 new Eagle Scouts from that council the previous year, plus one additional award for every additional 100 Eagle Scouts or portion thereof. A council is not permitted to carry unused nominations into the next calendar year, nor to "borrow" from the next year's allotment. Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts Of America)
Eagle Scout is the highest Ranks in Scouts BSA, rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of Scouting America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process. The Eagle Scout rank has been earned by over 2.75 million youth. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badge (Boy Scouts of America), merit badges, 14 of which are mandatory for the award. The Eagle Scout must demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based upon the Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout. The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) is an organization of individuals who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America), Eagle Scout in Scouting America. NESA's stated objective is "to serve Eagle Scouts and, through them, the entire movement of Scouting." Origins The Knights of Dunamis was an honor society of Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America), Eagle Scouts founded in San Francisco on April 19, 1925, by Scout Executive Raymond O. Hanson.
