Outer Banks Daredevils
The Outer Banks Daredevils are an amateur baseball team playing in the Premier Collegiate League, a collegiate summer baseball league. The team plays its home games at the Coy Tillett Sr Memorial Field located on the beautiful campus of Manteo High School in Manteo, North Carolina. The Daredevils were one of the original teams in the Coastal Plain League summer baseball league when the league was founded in 1997. The team was originally located in Manteo, North Carolina until the team moved to Kill Devil Hills in 2006, and for the 2023 season, the Daredevils have moved their home field back to Manteo. Since their founding, the Daredevils have had much success winning the 2002 and 2003 Coastal Plain League championships. After missing the 2012 season, the Daredevils joined the Tidewater Summer League for the 2013 season and went on to win four Tidewater Summer League championships (2013, 2015, 2016, 2018). Coastal Plain League
The Coastal Plain League (CPL) is a wood-bat collegiate summer baseball league, featuring college players recruited from throughout the nation. The league takes its name from the Class D level Coastal League which operated in the area from 1937 to 1952. History The modern Coastal Plain League was formed with six teams in 1997. The league has expanded over the years with teams across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia, with the 2023 addition of the Boone Bigfoots being the most recent expansion, bringing the league to 14 teams. Founding The league was founded in 1997 by Pete Bock. Bock conceived the idea in the early 1990s while traveling long distances to the Valley Baseball League in Virginia to see his son, Jeff, play summer baseball. Bock, an experienced sports executive, wanted a collegiate summer league closer to his home. He acted on it and the Coastal Plain league began play for the 1997 season. Justin Adam Maxwell (born November 6, 1983) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Washington Nationals, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, and San Francisco Giants . Biography Early life Maxwell is the son of Austin Maxwell, a US Navy dentist who also served as the "presidential dentist" from 1997 to 2002, providing dental care for US Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Houston Astros
The Houston Astros are an American professional baseball team based in Houston, Texas. The Astros compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division, having moved to the division in 2013 after spending their first 51 seasons in the National League (NL). Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). Samuel Franklin Narron (born July 12, 1981) is an American former professional baseball pitcher and current pitching coach for the Potomac Nationals. He pitched in one game in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers in the season. He was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 15th round of the 2002 MLB draft.
