Out Of The Sun
''Out of the Sun'' is the first studio album by guitarist Joey Tafolla, released in 1987 through Shrapnel Records. The album features fellow shred guitarists Paul Gilbert and Tony MacAlpine in various roles (guitar, keyboards and production). Critical reception Andy Hinds at AllMusic gave ''Out of the Sun'' 1.5 stars out of five, calling it "an undistinguished set of standard neoclassical shred instrumentals" and criticizing Tafolla for copying MacAlpine too much. He remarked that Tafolla "shows plenty of talent, but not much personality here. On this early effort, Taffola hasn't found his voice yet." Joey Tafolla
Joey Tafolla (born 1965) is an American guitarist known for his work with the heavy metal band Jag Panzer and solo instrumental releases. Biography Born in San Diego, California, Tafolla is the son of Rosie Hamlin and Noah Tafolla, the singer and guitarist of Rosie and the Originals, respectively. A member of the heavy metal band Jag Panzer from 1984 to 1986, Tafolla has rejoined the band several times over the years for albums and live concerts. Tafolla joined Mike Varney's Shrapnel Records label soon after leaving Jag Panzer for the first time and released his debut album '' Out of the Sun'' in 1987, which included Tony MacAlpine, Paul Gilbert and Wally Voss. Paul Gilbert
Paul Brandon Gilbert (born November 6, 1966) is an American hard rock and heavy metal music, heavy metal guitarist. He is the co-founder of the band Mr. Big (American band), Mr. Big, and was also a member of Racer X (band), Racer X, with whom he released several albums. In 1996, Gilbert launched a solo career, for which he has released numerous solo albums, and featured in numerous collaborations and guest appearances on other musicians' albums. Gilbert was voted fourth-best on ''Guitar One'' magazine's 2007 "Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shred guitar, Shredders of All Time". Mike Varney
Michael Varney (born 1958) is an American record producer and music publisher. He is the founder of the Shrapnel Label Group, which includes Shrapnel Records, Tone Center Records, and Blues Bureau International. He also owns 50% of Magna Carta Records, a New York–based label. Varney is often credited with popularizing the mid-1980s shred guitar boom, and has continuously specialized in producing musicians within the genres of instrumental rock, hard rock, jazz, jazz fusion, blues, blues-rock, progressive metal, and speed metal. Early life Mike Varney grew up in Novato, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before forming Shrapnel Records, Varney played extensively with the pre-punk band, The Nuns. Mastering is a form of audio post production which is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device called a master recording, the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). Wally Voss
Wally Voss (July 25, 1958 – November 29, 1992) was an American bass player. He was the bass player for Fort Lauderdale bands Pearl and later Front Runner, then played live with Yngwie Malmsteen on the Trilogy tour. Later in 1987, he played the bass parts on the '' Out of the Sun'' album from Joey Tafolla. Voss died from Hodgkin's lymphoma on November 29, 1992, at the age of 34. In 1999, bassist Kostas Domenikiotis listed Voss as one of his influences. Shred guitar is a virtuosic style of electric guitar performance. Categorized by its use of advanced techniques, shredding is a complex art form. Shred guitar includes fast alternate picking, sweep-picking, diminished and harmonic minor scales, tapping, and whammy bar use. Often incorporated in heavy metal, guitarists employ a guitar amplifier and a range of effects such as distortion. This creates a sustained guitar tone and may facilitate guitar feedback. Guy Aitchison (born 1968) is an American tattoo artist and painter. He was featured on the tattoo reality television shows ''LA Ink'' and ''Tattoo Wars''. Biography Guy Aitchison was born in Michigan. He began painting album covers in 1985 and began tattooing in 1988. He has also released several books.
