Otus is an educational technology company providing a learning management system, data warehouse and classroom management, classroom management tools for K-12 School, K-12 education. History The company was founded in 2012 by Chris Hull and Pete Helfers, two middle school social studies teachers. The platform was developed as a classroom management system integrating everything necessary to run a classroom. After receiving $2 million in funding from Andy Bluhm, Otus was officially launched in August 2014. Scops owls are typical owls in family Strigidae belonging to the genus ''Otus'' and are restricted to the Old World. ''Otus'' is the largest genus of owls with 59 species. Scops owls are colored in various brownish hues, sometimes with a lighter underside and/or face, which helps to camouflage them against the bark of trees. Some are polymorphic, occurring in a greyish- and a reddish-brown morph. They are small and agile, with both sexes being compact in size and shape. Female scops owls are usually larger than males. USS ''Otus'' (AS-20) was a submarine tender in service with the United States Navy from 1941 to 1946. In 1945, she was converted to an internal combustion engine repair ship and redesignated ARG-20. Decommissioned in 1946, she was scrapped in 1970. Tonmi Lillman
Tonmi Lillman (born Tommi Kristian Lillman, 3 June 197314 February 2012) was a Finnish musician, best known as Otus, the former drummer of the Finnish Rock music, rock band Lordi. Lillman died on 14 February 2012 after an illness. Career Lillman's father was a musician, and as a result he grew up surrounded by a large assortment of instruments. Tonmi received his first drum kit at age 9 and started performing live at age 14. Apart from drums and bass guitar, his primary instruments, Tonmi also played the keyboards and guitar. Prior to his death, he was involved in the bands Ajattara, Kylähullut, Vanguard and 3rror (band), 3rror. From his previous bands, he became best known as the drummer of Sinergy, To/Die/For and Lordi. In his professional career Lillman also taught digital recording and drums at Kouvola Musiikkiopisto (Kouvola Conservatoire).
